as far as I could agree with many things joyrex said, I must
say that in my opinion calling us (or whoever) "sad fucks"

You're right - I apologize for the harsh language, and I
think everyone knows it wasn't directed at xlt as a whole,
mostly at JAroen and those who participated in the act of
stealing the tracks.

shutup man, seriously, its not theft and if it is those
goddamn cry babies can take their money loving asses else
were, I mean goddamnit why the fuck does this electronic
scene in particular so hell bent over making money? it was
supposed to be about music. they make their money from shows
and merch, and hardly any from cd sales, and even so,
regardless they should stop being such cry babies, so what
if we are stealing it? its been happenening the whole damn
time the 'net has existed and it hasnt hurt them at all.

STEAL AWAY, FUCK THE ARTIST IF THEY CANT HANDLE THAT. Music
should damn near be free for christ sake.

OK, using your (twisted) logic, Tom can go get a day job
(since he should be able to 'handle' not making any money
off the music) and since his day job would wear him out,
he'll have less (if any) time to make music, thus releasing
less, and you, the listener, getting to hear less.

Take your head out of your arse before you speak, man.

That's one saving grace in all this -the preview samples are
only 90kzh or so, so the quality is not there, but for some,
they're good enough and will dissuade them from actually
buying the album since they've already heard it.

Would you go and pay to see a movie on the big screen if you
could go and watch the DVD at a friend's house? Of course
you wouldn't, except in rare instances where a movie
has to be seen on a big screen to be fully
enjoyed.

Same thing for music - some people won't be as willing to
spend the money on it once they've heard enough of it.

thanks! great point.

I personally believe people should view it in a whole before
listening because i am sick and tired of buying a release
that only has 2-3 good songs on it and the rest are subpar.

I download albums to get a feel for them and see if they
meet acquired tastes.

I could care less if warp and or rephlex and or any other
label has standards and the next release might be great. I
want to hear it and judge for myself.

If i like it i buy it. If it sucks then it's recycle bin
time.

Our buddy J was just looking out for us and did a favor for
people like me to which i thank him tremendously.

Think of the number of people disappointed by smojphace.

I dont know if this makes sense but its hard for me to put
my thoughts down on this.

The way I see it -
I can go into an art gallery (for free) look at the
paintings enjoy the work while I'm there, and have the
choice to purchase a piece.

The same should be true with music. I should be able to hear
a whole album, and decide if it meets my tastes.

Maybe if they set up some sort of time released mp3s (like a
demo application)

I don't know. Whatever!

everyone who's interested in getting those mp3's will get
them eventually, and im sure everyone who was thinking of
getting this release will still buy it.
it doesn't matter, no one is stealing nothing here, warp
will get their money, sooner or later...
if they don't wan't it to leak they shouldn't have send out
those promos, and now this bleep thing...instead they could
easily just release it in two weeks or whatever and prevent
people from "stealing".
btw, 1$ per song is silly, im sure everyone will rather wait
for mp3's to come on slsk...im sure if it would be 0,5$ they
would seel much more - imo.

anyway, im glad i got those mp3's :)

I'm all for the whole "it's about the music, silly" idea and
ethos, but you also have to realize, this is their
livelyhood - regardless of their musical motivations (RDJ's
"so I don't have to get a real job"), they have to support
themselves and their families. It would be like if someone
came up to you on payday and took part of your cheque for no
reason at all - that's what you do when you take away
chances for people to legitimately buy music by stealing or
pirating it.

Yeah, but the difference there was the videos were nowhere
near the quality of the originals, where the quality leap
from these MP3s is not as great to CD versus quicktime to
VHS or even DVD, where the leap in quality (not to mention
being able to watch it on a normal television instead of
your computer) is huge.

WARP themselves have the videos up too - what's the
difference then?

You can do better than that, can't you?

I honestly don't have a copy - trust me, I wish WARP had
sent me one, but they haven't, otherwise I would have done a
review with short sound clips like I did with the other
promos I've gotten from them before.

I've got to wait just like the rest of you for UV, and I'm
willing to wait or download legitmate MP3s.

I'm not trying to be holier-than-thou about his, in fact,
I'm being selfish in the respect I don't want some twat
fucking up Bleep for myself and the rest of us - I want
Bleep to succeed for myself and for the artists.

Oh, and before anyone brings up the inevitable "don't you
download Mp3s Joyrex?" attack; yes, I do download MP3s of
already released or out-of-print music to either a) decide
if I want to buy or delete the Mp3s or b) since it's out of
print, this is the only way (until now thanks to Bleep) I
can hear them. If the song is reissued (like Twoism) I go
and buy that then. I'm a music collector, just like a lot of

And about this whole squarepusher/bleep thing, imo warp knew

I have no problem with fans personally doing this (and more
importantly keeping it to themselves), but to go and
distribute it like JAroen did (which he had no right to do)
was wrong and pathetic. If WARP wanted you to hear the full
track in any other manner than 30 second snippets, they
would have had the track on streaming radio or some other
format.

as with the videos, warp themselves basically have the whole
tracks up too if they work with that "listen 30 seconds
anywhere in the track"-principle,
it's both naive and plain stupid to think no-one would do
something like JAroen did, if they had any brains at all
they just should've taken a one minute sample from the
middle of every track and let you pay if you wanted to hear
the rest.

of course you disagree with all this since you're more
catholic than the pope but i'm fine with that
