...is on bravo right now. they sure don't make 'em like
they used to.
speaking of which, is the redux dvd worth getting, or will
the twenty minute french plantation scene bore me?

yeah, the redone dvd they released around a year and a half
ago with additional footage and restored image quality. i
have the original dvd of it, but i'm wondering if i should
buy this or not, since i just got the three directors series
dvds and have just enough money for one more movie before
all my monetary funds go toward a trip to japan in may.

I love seeing a gawky young Lawrence Fishburne. What a great
flick.

the french plantation scene is interesting, but not
incredibly important... but it's not just what is added to
the movie, but also some of the things that are cut-out...
as well as the image-quality... but it really is up to
personal preference... you should probably try to borrow or
rent a copy...

the redux was cool. they bang the playboy bunnies and
wander onto a french plantation deep in the jungle. the
book it was based on was good too.

the added footage in REDUX is worth the "Robert Duvall"
extra footage alone.
But yes, the plantation scene is very slow.

As for the BRAVO airing, I watched it on there a couple days
ago...It was so cut up and censored that it was almost
unbearable.

Wonderful Movie none the less

you'd be crazy to miss out on REDUX if you can appreciate
the original release.

I gotta agree with you zaphod ...

It's about 2 hr 10 mins or 3 hr 20 mins if you buy the redux
version.

the redux version is great, I like when they get to the one
outpost (the whole thing is left out of the normal version)
where the playboy chopper ran out of fuel and they do drugs
and get to play with their tits. great.
