Anyone own this? I have heard lots of good things about
this software, can anyone confirm?

I love it too! Far better than version 2. The reverb and
distortion plugins mean that you really can make whole
tracks in it without the need for external effects(although
I still don't care much for the compressor) and the EQIng is
a lot better than version 1.

The subtractor has got to be one of the most underrated
softsynths ever- it has a wide palette of sounds that are
"good" (most synths can do bass, pads and leads but only
really excel at one or two).

breakbeat chopping abilities alone...

I have been a user of Reason since v1.0

I think it's one of the best pieces of software ever
made!!!

I purchased v2.5 when I bought my iBook from
www.jigsaw24.com

Reason is well worth the money.

I just feel priviliged to be able to say "I've BOUGHT Reason
2.5" unlike some of my friends, who have cracked/copied
versions....not that there's anything wrong with that, just
that I love being able to say I've bought it (probably means
I've got more money than sense though...actually it was more
LOAN money, hehe)

I got in one too many fights a couple of years ago and was
politely advised not to return. If I go in now I rarely get
admitted anywhere and I tend to stand out in a crowd a
little bit so sneaking in isn't really an option.

When you come up though I'll gladly meet you for a pint in
Toxteth or somewhere. :D

Reason 2.5 is fucking great BUT you can't just use it by
itself. You need to have other programs to use either with
ReWire or as a post effect processing doo-hickey.

Excellent graphics, analog-style drummachine, flagship NN-XT
and spiders - that cables make me crazy! Just don't burn
them ;)

No it's not. You can't properly finish a track in Reason.
You can make a track put to polish it you need to do do
stuff that Reason can't do. I'd love to have Audio
capabilities with Reason but I can't.

capabilites are you referring to?

ive been using reason for a long time too, and have
purchased 2.5 ( feels good ). It doesnt take long to get
used to it, but it takes a while to get used to making it
not sound like reason. Its a great peice of software, very
very powerful. I love it.

again that's nonsense. There is a certain track by a
certain Mr Savage which was his first track using Reason and
it doesn't sound like a "reason track" whatever one of them
is.

Sure, there are some limitations, and it doesn't sound
'hi-end'.

Audio capabilities really which is not what hte program is.

Say at Bar 50 I want that to last twice as long as any other
bar I have to export as a WAV and do it in Cool Edit or
whatever. I'd love to have the option of doing that in
Reason and that it actually stretched it rather than slowed
it down. Things like that would be great. I don't know what
sort of pocessor power that'd need but I can't see it being
too much of a problem these days. You can do it in a tracker
with samples.

Mastering is an ass in Reason. So tricky to do. The
Compressror isn't comprehensive enough for me either.
Everything else is great.

Which one do you prefer: Malstroem or Subtractor? Or maybe
NN-XT?

you can time stretch in Dr.Rex..although I agree that the
levels on the channels can sound slightly different in the
rendered wav file than when it is playing in realtime.
