okay so i went to this rave last night, cause there wasn't
much else to do and i knew the person who thru it so free..
yea.. so what happened to raves??? there was a smoking
balcony with fencing around it and you had to get a 'smoking
pass' to go out there. and there was a small ass room where
you could drink... but you couldn't drink anywhere else in
the place... and there were paramedics working the door and
wouldn't let anyone in. it was ridiculous. new age raves?
eep!

most raves here are like that now.. it's strange.

like... the entire place is on ecstacy and meth and coke but
the paramedics focus so hard on trying to contain the amount
if liquor and cigs. doesn't really click.

The not "having to pay" part sounds pretty dodgy to me...
There's hardly any commercial raves in the UK anymore - But
there's tonnes of free parties these days... Prolly more now
than in the 90's.

From my house you can usually hear two different parties at
once on a friday night - Across the fields.

Police don't seem too bothered these days.

But yeah, comercially run raves are such a contradiction.

okay but... there were these 14 year old girls sitting on
the counter in the girl's washroom, and they were so messed
on ecstacy that they were crossed eyed... i think they need
the embrace the most.

The only time I ever feel in touch with "reality" reality,
is watching the sun rise at an outdoor rave, just as I'm
coming down off acid/mushrooms/something...

Really puts things in perspective!

Yes- me and my older brother were talking about this the
other day- when he was growing up in the early-mid 90s,
there were lots of traditional raves, outdoors, illegally
tapped mains cables, etc. and lots of police activity
relating to it. Now, there seem to be just as many, but
they're either done as open house parties or even in
buildings bought specifically for it. There's a house that
is jsut used for free raves next to a nightclub I sometimes
go to and one of my old mates bought a small warehouse
primarily to have a place for small semi-legal parties. I
reckon the fact that it's "off the streets" (or at least in
fields where the farmer has consented etc) is what keeps the
police away.

Yeah absolutely! London's got silly amounts of squat parties
going on these days (saw Johnny Rotten at one not long ago -
also see a lot of fashion models), but 'round the midlands
there's tonnes of outdoor free parties happening these
days.

There's more and more springing up every week - Ranging from
30 people in a farm warehouse, right through to TWAT parties
and Exodus festival which go on for days and attract
thousands and thousands.

Wierd the way the media are totally turning a blind eye now
- As are the police by the looks of it!
