1st official sean and both (Autechre) release and it's
really fascinating.
I like it very much, old school rules.
Much better than Cavity Job, no doubts.

though.

This didn't take long, kind of predictable -

them?

it's going to be re-released on cd at the end of the year
anyway.

not at all.... i'm not gonna sell them.... read me previous
posts on this....

SKAM always had this mysterious image, now it's like they
reveal some of their inner secrets... I just find it odd...
and perhaps a little bit bad for hardcore SKAM freaks, like
myself.

yeeah they can do prettymuch whatever they want.
they know the only "X" numbered were pressed
they know they go for big $$ on auctions sites

when you pay big $$ for records, its a lottery

sometimes it pays/sometimes is doesnt, catch 22

"when you pay big $$ for records, its a lottery
sometimes it pays/sometimes is doesnt, catch 22"

Spot on. My opinion is that you should only pay what the
amounth that something is worth to you. If you buy stuff and
the primary motivation is that it will increase its value
and you can sell it at a profit, you should view it like any
other stocks/shares- buy a wide range and sell, sell, sell
if it looks like a re-issue is imminent...

offline Ceri JC from Jefferson City (United States) on 2004-04-02 16:07 [#01130492]

Also, it's worth bearing in mind that (certainly in vinyl)
represses often suck in terms of audio quality. If there's
demand for a reissue, they know they'll sell a lot anyway
and can opt to have it pressed on cheaper, poorer quality
vinyl. The original ones (especially if there's different
sleeve art) will still go for a lot. I mean, look at
audiophile versions of beatles albums in good condition,
they go for around £200 each, despite the fact you can
still buy brand new "normal" copies on CD/vinyl.

phobiazero. cant you see this is making a lot of skam fans
really happy? stop being a cry baby about it man! i dont
mean to be rude but thats what it seems like to me. how
would you have reacted if you didnt have lego feet and
suddenly it popped up, not on ebay by some unknown seller,
but by skam? im sure this made some happy people and i
think thats cool. :)

unless the re-issue is 180g in which case the chances are
its far superior to the original, for example everything on
the simply vinyl label

most of that should be available or stocked by any decent
independent store, or at least the most recent releases

i think it's great -- if they've got em sitting around, they
should get them out to the people that want to play them.
but the music on the site -- that's just not anywhere!

hobbes: that's not what I meant! I'm happy for all people
who can get their own copies of such a (ex)rare item!
Believe me! But the thing is, SKAM was prolly the most
mysterious label out there, and it's so un-SKAM to do this?!
I'm just confused...

Why would they sell out their rare mint&sealed gems when
they are reissuing it on CD?

offline JAroen from the pineal gland on 2004-04-03 01:59 [#01130911]

a) to make money
b) to make the fans happy, that they have a chance of owning
the original vinyls

It is rather un skam like. Myself, im happy to be
able to buy a copy :)

cant wait till it gets here

because as far as the 12" goes its still very
limited.......they didnt press up any other copies if you
know what i mean.....

hmm, it's great they dug out the old copies, i heard an
interview on radio 1 with them a while back in which the
skam guys claimed to still have boxes of the legofeet ep! (i
have mp3 of this interview btw if anyone wants a listen) i
agree with what was said before about paying what the record
is worth to you personaly. i've paid what some ppl would no
doubt call silly prices for certain records, but to me it's
worth it. i paid £120 for twoism, even tho i knew the
re-release was coming out (i had the re-release on pre-order
from warp at the time i bought the original infact), i would
have paid more too, it's not something i'm ever going to
sell, unless i'm forced to, it's not something i'm trying to
make money on, i couldn't care less if it became completely
worthless in money terms. i remember thinking when the
re-release was announced 'great, now the price of the
original will drop and i can get it!' i've done this with a
few records. a re-release just doesn't compare to the
original to me, even if it's an exact copy.

oh, hi to k_maty btw, now i know why you were asking me
about internet boards 8)

i was very suprised when i heard this release. i like it a
lot. cavity job wasn't so good imo and i didn't like
autechre's first release so it was kind of odd to have older
stuff by them that i liked. i'd like to get a copy of this.
too bad the skam clearout sale didn't really exist.

possible. my email address is in my profile.

i can't wait for the CD rerelease. i missed the clearout
shop (and have done so every single time its been open)
because i'm here in the US and i think i'm asleep whenever
it's up.
