I actually made an effort and sat down and tried to listen
to this album all the way through because so many of you
consider it to be the ultimate BoC release.

Never have I felt that the time spent litening to a CD has
been a bigger waste.

Predictable, Repetitive and utterly unengaging.

My hate for BoC's music went up a few more notches.

I've given them quite a few chances. They're just too
fucking dull for me. The really old stuff is the only thing
that I can get anything out of, but I don't even listen to
that very often.

hola clic:)

I made another song for you this week..I will be sending
your CD after XMAS..is that okay?..I am finding that most of
my songs are quite short and it's taking a bit of time to
fill up the 80 minutes ;)

Ha, excellent. :)

Will be looking forward to it for sure. I'll send you a copy
of my set on the 26th after then, too.

mhtrtc is one of the best albums so far.
tunes like an eagle in your mind, roygbiv, pete standing
alone, bocuma kaini industries are superb.

i don't like geogaddi so much though.

I haven't really ever jumped at the thought or mention of
Boards of Canada. I've given them a few chances myself, and
I agree, they're just too....lifeless. Uninteresting.

Just my opinion, though, but it's surprising because I
always tend to have an open mind about new artists, and new
music.

Ahh well, if I find a cheap boc release one day I might just
pick it up. But until then, I continue making my way through
Autechre's superb discography with each release.

hehe....my latest hobby.

:)

I think for Christmas I'll ask for Feed Me Weird Things (I
need more []< and for some reason I never end up getting
any), and maybe LP5.

Yay!

geogaddi is the emotional one for me, mhtr2c is the catchy
one...i can see why you might find some of it boring, but
telephasic workshop and aquarius boring? no way pedro

"Music has the right" is pretty engaging if you ask me.
What seemed repetitive to me at first unveiled numerous
layers after additional listens. I didn't have the patience
to sit down and listen to the whole thing at first.
Instead, I got hooked on Roygbv and would start the album
from that track, skipping the beginning. Now i like the
whole but it took a while for me to break it in. I hate to
say it, but the key for me was listening to it while
stoned.

I guess that if you aren't into the qualities of their sound
I could see how it might become annoying, however I think
you might want to try listening to it again. It's pretty
intense when you give it a chance.

But what the fuck do I know, I'm just a big stoner.

If you're approaching BoC from the typical IDM perspective
and evaulting it by that criteria, it's probably not gonna
measure up. They have a very different focus than your run
of the mill IDMmer. It's not to say it's devoid of those
elements.. but I seriously do think there's more to the side
of melodic subtleties and nostalgia. It's repetetive at
times, but not unjustifiably so. If this isn't your thing,
then that's that. That's why there's Aphex Twin.

This is probably in my top 3 favorite albums of all time. If
you asked me to pick three to take with me to a desert
island, this would be one of them.

The entire album is like a mine-field, with tiny little
hooks and details that just make you love each song.

The little synth flourish that comes in once during roygbiv
makes me absolutely giddy.
