Bought the DVD boxset of this the other week just on the
basis it was half price and I'd heard it was damn good. Fuck
me it was. I loved it. Damn bastards haven't released the
2nd Season on DVD yet. Man I'm impatient. Unfortunately I
was reading up about the series and right in the middle of
the page, without warning, they revealed the killer. Kind of
spoils it but it proved me right.

Anyone else watch this and love it? The music is great too.

I've not watched 'em either, I tend agree with
this view of Lynch films... I thought Blue Velvet
was okay though (only okay mind). Is Twin Peaks better than
his films?

yeah its great!

and knowing who killed laura palmer isnt the spoiler you
probably assume it now to be
knowing who killed her is only half the story...perhaps even
less
;P

have to borrow them.

Ceri: Twin Peaks is a work of art!

goDel: They really did a number on naming the killer so I
know the whole who it was in both ways :/

bob: I was afraid it wouldn't be as good. I'll still get it
though as I want to see the lot :D

DANCING MIDGETS TALKING BACKWARDS RULE!

Twin peaks is amazing, as is most of his other work. A to
the link, What maddox misses in his essay is that a film can
work on more than just a story-based level. I imagine the
films make pretty good sense to lynch - but i dont really
try to dig to deep into them, instead i just "watch the
moving pictures" and hear the moving sound because lynch is
a master of working atmosphere like one would work a story.
Thick emotions. David lynch isn't insane, hes just a nerd
who likes making pretty movies. Hes not trying to be
anything else.
sorry for ranting, just my opinion...

knowing the killer is not very important. it is only a thin
storymechanism to keep thing rolling.

you should watch "Fire Walk With Me".

supposedly the 2nd season is coming out one year from now.

OMG OMG OMG! 1 YEAR? Thtat's a hella long time to wait! Is
it worth seeing Fire Walk with me before I see the second
series? I want to see it but I know it explains things that
happen in the series and I love the fucked up shit of this
"story". I like the surprises.

its an amazing lynch film.

it's so singular... the show and that film are very
different in some ways form one another, thats why i find it
ruins nothing, because its focus is shifted to a different
gear in the film.

in essence it is a very sad film - simply because it shows
the last 7 days of Laura Palmer's life before she gets
murdered.
I kind of see it as Lynch's take on a psychological study of
a person (in this case Laura).

and it is scary as hell.

short films dvd is excellent!!!

theres 2 on there that pretty much make the $40 pricetag
worthwhile.

the eraserhead dvd i have yet to obtain, but i had it on vhs
for a long time, and have loved the film for years.

I had to download the entire second series from Kazaa,
broadband soothes the pain though. There's some good episode
guides n stuff on the net to help with some of the trickier
questions asked by Lynch. Fuck me I'm hungover.

but it beats waiting or paying through the arse for a shitty
quality Spanish boxset on eBay.

Yes except with murders and astrophysical donuts

Btw Ginge, the second series is pretty poor compared to the
first, just to warn you. Some good episodes (usually the
Lynch directed ones) but a lot of guff too.
