I need something, preferably freeware, to record my live
set from tape to wav format.

any suggestions?

(i don't have WinDAT, sadly)

i could also use an equalization program of sorts (also
preferably freeware) that I can adjust levels with - i was
playing with a dummy version of this mix on my stereo, and
the original midrange is WAY too high, and the bass WAY too
low.

goldwave will do.

download an mp3 recorder like LAME if you want to convert it
to mp3 format when you are done.
