A380, this is the first prototype.

will hold ~550 pax on two decks, into service 2006.

jeezus it's massive (i had to crop the shit out of it just
to make it size)

No way is that going to fly! It hasn't even got wings + if
you were the piolet you'd have to put loads of jumpers on
it'd be freezing!

ya'll know 747s the big planes with the hump on the front?

those seat ~412 pax in typical seating.

550 on this, with tons of room to stretch the plane, we
should see 800+ in 10 years or so.

shouldn't they perfect one deck airplanes first. last time i
checked we are still having plane crashes

generally planes are fairly large as they have to have
people in them

doesnt look very big to me, compared to your typical toy
airplane, it is quite gargantous

You can't perfect aeroplanes or anything else for that
matter.

Probability of failure in any system or construction is
100%.

not mistaken they've only had one crash

239 feet long
~80 feet high
261 foot wingspan (2x the distance covered by the first
powered flight)
1.2million pounds
4 engines @ 70,000lbs of thrust each!

they ceased operations because they're putting them in an
airplane blender and coming out with an A380

in the sodding thing.

well, waiting for bags with 500 other people shouldn't be
fun, but the interior size is a bit wider than a 747-400,
yet they will fit the same number of seats accross.

so it will be 3-4-3, with about a foot extra width. Seat
pitch (distance between seats front to back) is dependent on
the airline, but should be 32in-33in (standard)

Have you seen those little peg things you can attatch to the
chair of the person in front of you, It makes it so they
can't lean back into your space..

the good thing about this new development, it'll give action
hero's more space to work with new ideas- when the big
airplane battle occurs, y'know...

don't get me started on those fuckers in Y class (economy)
that recline into your lap.

Aircraft enthusiasts consider it bad taste, everyone in the
cheap seats has little enough room as it keeps, keep your
seat forward and shut your mouth =)

Extra width will be a nice touch :)

Leg space would be a nice touch, An extra inch or two would
be perfect!

again, these are all user airline specific, but the designs
are in place to generally give 3-4-3 seating on the main
deck.

if all goes well, this might mean each seat will get it's
own arm-rests, something that would greatly ease the
congestion feeling, especially with 549 other people around
you!

Given that there were only 12 in service that's not very
reassuring :P

Where can I get one of those? I always get some irritating
cunt in front who thinks that becasue they can stretch their
legs out they have the right to push their seat back at
force. I feel it my duty to smack their chair forward at
high volume if I've asked them 10 times, nicely, to not put
their seat back.

But anyway, yes, where can I get those pegs please? I'm
flying to New Zealand next year and I'm not relishing the
thought of being cramped.

It would. indeed. Hopefully they realise that people would
actually prefer to have room to move their bodies naturally.
I considered going 1st class on my flight. Then I found out
that it would cost me 7times more than I was paying already.
I can't afford £7,000 for a fucking flight!

all i know if this huge ass airplane starts to go down, i
hope it has like a back up system. the upper half of the
airplane splits from the lower half, like an ejectors seat,
as for the lower half, they have a large parachute and land
softely on the ocean

yeah, after the AF crash a few years ago, the concorde went
from statistically safest, to most unsafe, in one day.

So few number of flights, it is impossible to compare.

The Concorde had had a few failures before that caused the
crash, but they weren't as catasrophic in the past.

grand mechanical failure :(

It's a shame about Concorde. The way I see it is that
basically BA were being selfish and saying that they weren't
going to have Concorde so no-one else will. Maybe I read it
wrong.

yeah, that is what Richard Branson would have you think =)

The company that made the spares, basically said, we can't
afford to make parts anymore for these things.

Airlines had no choice, you can only cannabalize so many
planes in such a limited fleet.

Damn shame, most advanced plane in the air was 40+ years
old. We won't see Supersonic transport again for a long
time :(

I read about some supersonic plane that was faster than
concorde using some new engine. This was about two years ago
and they said it would be around int 2010. It sounded
impressive but it was a small article in the paper.
Hypersonic was used I think..
