Does anyone know how to handle .bin files that are over 700mb? i.e. impossible to burn onto a 700mb cd-r.
what to do...
any help would be much appreciated :)

I assume you don't need to bin file to be operational off the burnt disk(s). If that is the case you can split them...WinRAR lets you split files into 700Mb chunks for CD's. Then you just copy the archive folders onto the destination PC and unzip it and the bin file is unified again :D

There are 900MB CDs out. 99min, 900MB. You should get some of those.

A .bin file is a CD-image file, there should also be a .cue file (basically tells a CD burning app like Nero to look at the .BIN file and burn it to disc). The .BIN file will fit on a CD... when it's converted back to raw data during the burning process it will fit on a CD.

.bin files can be a lot of different things. most of the time they are just binary data files though.
do a files search for *.bin and you'll likely find a ton of those fuckers.

Yeah, but considering he's wanting to burn a .bin file to CD, it must be a disc image.

Considering he was asking about files larger than a CD can hold it may not be (unless overbuening is an option)

It is a game, so it is a disc image. Guess I'll have to buy me some 800mb cd-r's. You can't overburn 15-20mb can you?

Joyrex is right - you should have a cue file which you use to burn the image to the CD - it'll fit perfectly into a 700 Mb although it seems oversized.

I already tried that - installed it and shit, but when I launch the game, it keeps asking for one of the discs (.bin no 2) - since I don't have it, the game wont load

no, uh, I have all bin files (3 bins = 3 cd's) but since I can't burn them onto a 700mb cd'r, I have a problem when the game tells me to insert disk number two, know what I mean.. :)

ok, the game is already installed, but it ask for disc 2 during load - all cd's (bin's) are installed on my harddrive, so when it asks me for disc 2 when I launch the game, I just mount bin 2, etc?

Just download any .cue file off eMule or any of the other P2P networks, look at the structure - it's just a text file really.
-or-
GO BUY THE DAMN GAME!!! :)

yes. i'd have to say if you like the game enough to go through this kind of trouble, you should prolly buy it.
it's a viscious cycle; game's too expensive... *steal it*. gaming companies must raise prices to compensate for that theft.... more people steal game.... prices go up.... more theft.... *sweet gaming company goes out of business*.
it's inevitable.

I usually buy the stuff I like, after trying it out first, but I like trying the full versions instead of crappy trials
