You better beleive it...wait for the "War on Gays" the thrilling sequel to the "War of Terror" featuring a whole new threat "Weapons" of Mass Destruction, sreading AIDS, and the as yet not yet released footage of new "suicide bummers" which threaten the straight population by turning people gay and then exploding.

given how 15% of the US population is gay its somewhat ridiculous. people should just dont let those individuals live their lives like everyone else. and even though gays are the leading cause of AIDs in the US they're not in the entire world heterosexuals are, so whoever said thank god for aids is an ignorant bastardo

Mass. just passed a ruling, allowing gays to get married.
  bushes comment:
"Marriage is a sacred institution between a man and a woman," he said. "Today's decision ... violates this important principle. I will work with congressional leaders and others to do what is legally necessary to defend the sanctity of marriage."

I think there is a big difference between being a bigot who hates homosexuals on every level and being someone who views homosexuality as a medical disorder but still has compassion for those people involved. I think we have done a bad thing as a society to view homosexuality as a healthy alternative orientation to heterosexuality. Homosexual groups have aligned themselves with the civil rights movement, which to me is like schizophrenics aligning themselves with the civil rights movement. Schizophrenics are restricted by society from being involved in certain activities and for good reason. It doesn't mean we hate them it is just in everybody's best interest.

I don't see anything wrong with gay marriage. The tricky bit is adoption. In theory it should be fine. Certainly gay couples are no different from hetros. Some would make wonderful parents and others not. The problem lies with the issue of motherhood and the attitudes of other children. Children are very cruel and I feel that kids adopted by gay-couples would probably suffer from taunting and bullying, at least until such adoption becomes wide-spread and generally accepted. But let's be realistic that wouldn't happen for a good 30 years minimum. And then there's the question of whether a mother is necessary in the balanced development of a child. I'd tend to think yes but I have no idea really.

So I'm opposed to gay-couple adoption only on the grounds of the effects to the children. I think we need to evolve a bit first. And as for the mother issue I'm no child psychologist so I have no real views on the mater.

"medical disorder"
  O_o
"Schizophrenics are restricted by society from being involved in certain activities and for good reason. It doesn't mean we hate them it is just in everybody's best interest."

  um.
but schizophrenics have potential to hurt others... being gay affects no one, except themselves.

Even if being gay was a "mental disorder"... no one is being hurt. Why is it anyones buisness? Its not. People just fear what they dont understand.

Well that's something you have to figure out for yourself, I'm not into having that discussion again.

As far as homosexuality, it may not physically hurt anyone else except regarding disease, although that is rooted in promiscuous sex both hetero and homo, it does create a certain moral climate that can easily confuse others. If we say gay is ok then kids might be more likely to experiment etc. This is what society wants though, this liberal anything goes free for all. So go ahead and when it all falls apart don't say nobody warned you.

If you prevent people from adopting children on the basis that they will be bullied, why stop with homosexuals? Better not let families in predomonantly white populations adopt black children. or fat children. families who adopt children should also not be allowed to let their adopted kids play dungeons and dragons; or wear dorky clothing. all of these things can lead to bullying and must be prevented by your arguement.

I never said that I hated homosexuals. In fact I have friends that are gay. Ian McEllen is a great actor, but it is besides the point. Van Gogh was a great artist but he was still mentally ill.

For the record I didn't say homosexuality was like for like with schizophrenia, just pulled a medical disorder out of my hat for an example. I could have just as easily said .

yes this is very true but putting the simple fact of bullying aside I wonder about the psychological effects and impact on the children involved.

i don't necessarily agree with his assumption that the relationship between gay marriages and the disolution of the family is as strong as he makes it out to be. i think there are a whole lot of things going on in modern society that is causing higher numbers single parent families.

that being said, a lot of people seem to take a WAY overly simplistic view of things around these parts.

even though i can't stand margarette cho, she has a pretty good take on the pro-gay marriage side also on that page.

she makes a good point about how the whole 'sacred bond' idea of marriage is just silly. i agree with her totally.

I didn't like the start. All that shit about series and stuff. I don't like the 'cool' or 'trendy' homosexuality promotional trends in society. As for the series, let's take queer as folk as an example. The show seems to depict gays as morons who only think with their dicks. Were I myself gay, I would be most offended.

a rarely watch tv, so i don't know about that.
i just agreed with the part of her thing where she was talking about how two straight people can be married by an elvis impersonator in a drivethru window in las vegas... yet they still call it a 'sacred bond' between a man an a woman. there ain't shit sacred about that.

I know and it's a shame. I don't buy the religious aspect of the "sacred bond" thing but I do strongly believe in the principles of marriage even if these have pretty much been thrown out of the window in today's society.

the problem with your statement is not that you are comparing homosexuality with schizophrenia but that you claim that homosexuality is a "medical disorder" that somehow warrants the forfeiture of human rights. Even if it were a medical disorder, it still doesn't follow that they should be denied basic civil rights. Do you deny a blind man his civil rights? or a person in a wheel chair? The Flu is a "medical disorder" of the respiratory system. should flu sufferers be denied their civil rights untill they recover? Of course not.

and to justify your opinion by claiming friendship with homosexuals is total bullshit. Why don't you tell your gay friends to their faces that you believe they have a "medical disorder" and that they are tearing the fabric of society? We'll see how long they remain your friends.

The real problem in society is not homosexuality or gay marraiges, it is uninformed ignorance and hate. If anything is destroying the social order, it is ignorant bigotry.
