Damn this has some of the finest electronic music ever made
residing on it. Maybe not their best work as a whole but
some of the individual tracks are just mind blowing. I
decided to dig it out and listen to it today while I am
working and it reminded me exactly why Ae are the greatest
electronic musicians of all time. (controvertial I know :D)

great ep
original artwork and great tracks, still some tracks lack a
real climax and are maybe a bit too long, but all in all i
enjoy this ep (i rather see it as an album) a lot :)

its a good release but I prefer chastic slide, draft 7.30
and confield and lp5 over this one.

hearing EP7 for the first time was a bizarre experience for
me.

before i bought it i only heard Tri Repetae ++, Amber, &
Incunabula. when i spun this for the very first time i was
like "damn, doesn't even sound like Autechre did it."

of course, i skipped the gap that Envane, Chiastic Slide,
Cichli Suite, & LP5 occupy.

i was obsessed with "ccec" from the start. i also like
"outpt" & "dropp". "zeiss contarex" is really trippy; made
me think of a derelict airport infested by aliens. "netlon
sentinel" is short but dramatic, followed by "pir", which is
sort of a meloncholy but soft end to the EP.

overall i saw EP7 as a huge part of Autechre's adventure to
the subatomic scale of sound.

fantastic ep (album). i don't know what nacmat was going on
about with the first half, it's awesome. the second is
better i suppose but that's not to say it would be a better
release without the inclusion of the first half.
zeiss contarex is the dopest track ever.

i have the US release of this album and would very much like
to get the UK version with the frosted jewel case and hidden
bonus track.

amazon.co.uk is selling it, i know but warpmart isn't.

maphive6.1!

and zeiss contarex has one of the most amazing melodies i've
heard from autechre., even if its only played in full a few
times..

It never fails to blow me away, this... extremely long EP.
And I agree, Zeiss Contarex is among the coolest tracks ever
devised. Insidious!

I always thought Left Bank and Liccflii had a lot of
untapped potential though. They don't go where I'd want them
to go, but they start off perfect.

i just sent Warpmart the following email:

hello Warpmart!

i have all of Autechre's CD releases...but i am now heavily
interested in upgrading it from Complete to Immaculate. this
means getting the UK versions of LP5 and EP7, plus getting
the three albums that make up Tri Repetae++. i'm thinking
about my kids here: i think they deserve to inherit an
immaculate Autechre collection. what kids don't?

anyway, the lovely black jewel case version i have found at
amazon.co.uk (you guys don't seem to have it in stock at the
moment). my next mission is the EP7 with the engraved
frosted case and hidden bonus track. you guys don't have
that in right now either, but amazon.co.uk is selling that
too - can i expect that to have the frosted case and hidden
bonus track? in other words, do all UK versions (Warp
versions) have that?

your compliance is greatly appreciated! i've got a shitload
of Warp music and follow the label religiously. keep up the
good work! looking forward to future Autechre!

most sincerely,
peter holm

ep7 is great to listen to whilst in a small, heated room
with absurd amounts of snow outside.

It's certainly not an album. It may be album length, but
it's easy to tell, from listening to it, the ideas are
mainly extensions from LP5 - it's not such a big step on. It
sounds, to LP5, as Garbage does to Amber, or as Cichlisuite
does to Chiastic Slide. Its definitely an EP by content,
length aside.
I like it. It's not my favourite. Some of the tracks I don't
like - I find the first few a bit dull, and Maphive6.1 I
can't stand. And the last track is a bit of an anticlimax.
The rest, however, I rather like, some of them being my
favourite æ tracks (Dropp, Outpt).

ive been listening to this one alot for the past week, still
sounds as good as when it came out.

every track has the same undescribable quality to it that.s
not present on any of their other material. cant put my
finger on it though...

70 minutes long) i listen to most. It may not be a
masterpiece a la confield, but it is rather nice.

I find it interesting and in a few places great. It's still
too repetitive and anticlimatical for me, thought. maphine
6.1 is also completely overrated, with the most annoying
piano melody in the world.

not as far to confield as i thought (now that i love
confield), a perfect nexus between that and lp5, imo...

a bit tired of it actually, tho...

try seperating it into 2 releases, 7.1 (1-5) and 7.2 (6-11)
maybe that will help

I remember EP7 was hard to get into..

I bought it and went to a friends house to check it out, he
liked it immediately while I was somehow dissapointed, and
the "secret track" was not even a real track but only
sounds
but after a few times I started to like it more and more
and now it is one of my fav releases
