It has no atmosphere and is funky and exciting in places but
overall not a very stunning Ae album.

I love all post envane ae albums to death. (I like the
others too(cept Basscadet, ugh) But I find it really easy
to ignore and forget about LP5. I wanna say its too normal.

not true... I saw a copy of that black cased one in The
Netherlands... forget the store, but it was there... I
didn't buy it cause I already owned LP5, but I should've...

I just bought this on everyone's suggestions, thanks very
much! I don't like it nearly as much as their other
full-length releases, though I disagree with most as I also
don't care much for ep7 (I don't mean that ep7 isn't an
ep--that's just something which is popular and I don't
like: using it as an example of my differing taste). I find
it slightly automatic, unvaried. I do like vose in quite a
bit.

can someone explain to me what is going on in 777?

most of richard devine's music sounds like this track to me.
in some ways.

It's kind of like "thumb thumb thumb thumb thumb" repeat. I
like it.

Hmm, it has a simple beat, but counting those bass notes is
weird, they settle in off-beat or something.

This album sounds so sparkly and clean at times. Slippery
and disinfected. But other times, not so much. It's got
depth.

You either get a black jewel case (see the first post, there
is an image), or a regular one with a white insert (the US
Nothing records release I believe)

Although I disliked it at first (for about a year) I now
absolutely love this CD, amongst my top 3 albums by
Autechre. I was listening to it half asleep last week and it
made me think up a cool video for it, except I don't really
know if I thought it up while I was still partly conscious
or I feel asleep and the music inspired me to think up the
video. Either way, it's a great albumubum.

my introduction to ae several years ago. when i first heard
track 01 i went "what tha fuck??" . it's one of my
favourites.

after i heard confield it appeared almost like some
electro-pop, heh

i think this album is probably my favourite Autechre album.

fold4 wrap5 has the most amazing texture, and the sound a
few seconds into 'corc' is amazing

i do like their more abstract stuff alot, but their more
'conventional' stuff, this hits it!

Rae is something special. I'm in love with it.

That minute in the sample I've just linked, is also my
favourite part on the whole tune. I can say that the samples
here on xlt are well-chosen generally.

Rae is my favorite autechre track of all time (at least so
far, there's still quite a lot i haven't heard yet!)

444 from incunabula is an extremly close second.

Rae is just the best track by them that i've ever heard.

i can't explain how good it is

Yeah I like 444 a lot too.

I think your taste might like a track like "Second Scepe" on
Anvil Vapre EP, you should check it out if you haven't
listened to it yet. Let me check the discography, if I'm
able to find a sample.

i do not have that one yet

the autechre stuff i have is:

Chiastic Slide
Confield
Draft 7.30
gantz_graf
Incunabula
lp5
tri repetae
Untilted

i do need to buy the rest though so no doubt i shall hear it
once i acquire it. unfortunately i cannot download samples -
shitty GPRS connection :(

thanks for the recommendation though :)

No worries :)

I didn't find the sample anyway, it's not available for a
listen yet.

Your next AE purchases could be Ep7 and Anvil Vapre, good
luck and keep us updated :)

I can't believe the second scepe sample is missing..... it's
one of my absolutely fav. ae-tracks....... we've covered almost every ae-tracks with samples

....... what a shame!

Oh here's another nice way to browse the discography, I'm
honest, I haven't noticed it yet until now :)

Anyway you should really add it, that track makes me crazy
as well.

man, you people are weird, this is probably my second
favorite album by ae, next to confield. it seems like a
great middleway between more 'conventional' soundng stuff
before it and the more abstractness of confield and draft.

acroyear, rae and under boac are the higlights for me, but
the album works so well as a whole i rarely listen to it
other wise.

on another note, i unfortunately only have the white covered
us nothing release. :_( because of no pretty black case.

This and Chiastic Slide really float my boat. My favourite
album by Autechre, before they got too up their own arse
with Confield (still a yuck album for me I'm afraid).
