Is it just me, or is it whenever someone brings up the man
they call him 'they' and refer to him as Aphex Twins?

Why aren't people a lil more informed ya'll?

1 - there are 2 twins of a set of twins

2 - some releases were credited to "the aphex twin"

that's if you don't take into account that recent
"revelation" on here... which puts the grand total up to
about 7...

they make their sweet music?

D-Steak shut up, everyone here knows that aphex twin is one
person. if you see people here talking about aphex twin as
though it is some kind of band then the chances are they are
doing it to wind people like you up.
I know that's the case when i do it.

If you have a first print of GLAMORAMA by Brett Easton
Ellis, he mentions meeting the Aphex twins...always makes me
giggle (Great BOOK btw - Terrorists, Xanax & Models...same
guy who wrote American Psycho, so big gore warning to those
with a delicate stomach..)...

It's been corrected in later re-prints...(weird really, as
it's rare for minor details/typos to changed like
that...)...

hehe...I'm full of useless facts...:)..

He he, a book on remixing I have (which is otherwise well
written and researched - aside from a couple of spelling
mistakes) keeps refering to RDJ being in Aphex Twin
as though Aphex Twin is a group. Pretty odd given how much
the author is into electronica (about 1/4 of the book is
interviews/quotes from warp/ninjatune/leaf artists)

that is weird.

i guess people just assume the word twin means there is 2
people in it.

weird.

also knew someone who thought autechre was one person.

guess they thoguht "how could 2 people want to do that, let
alone one?"

heh

Venetian Snares is also often referred to in the plural.
Maybe because of the 's' on the end of Snares. I hear people
(even those on the radio, who should know better) saying
"yeah, Venetian Snares are my favourite group. They make
some excellent music."

Honestly, I STILL fuck up regarding IDMers. Sometimes I

A = acid
pH = level of acidity
ex = something cool to put on the end

twin = not sure

also there is no dead brother.. no dead twin. that is
bullshit. the grave stone is richards own, he family has
their burial plots purchaced w/headstones already in place.

I thought the word aphex was taken from Aphex Systems, LTD.

And the twin is a reference to his deceased brother, David.

It should have ALWAYS been ''The Aphex Twin'', to avoid
confusion (maybe...), and because it sounds more
intimidating. I always wished Pink Floyd kept their ''The''
in there. THE PINK FLOYD. Ooohh.

well now. The word Apex means "top" or "the highest point on

where the H comes from.

pomme is right about the aphex part (i read that in an
interview somewhere, forget where tho) and xlr is right
about the twin part. THERE! thus to sum it up for those too
lazy to scroll:
A = acid
pH = a system of measuring the concentration of hydrogen
ions in any solution (a pH below 7 is acidic, above 7 is
basic, so saying its a measure of acidity is a bit off, but
im nitpicking)
ex = sounds cool

twin = his still born brother also named richard d james
(hense the cover of the girl/boy ep)

Pg 408 of Hardback Glamorama...

"...until Chloe walks in with famous ballerine, a well known
former junkie just out of rehab and the Aphex twins, and all
start chatting...."..

Corrected in later prints & paperback...
