for music releases...

would it make any difference if you had your records
autographed by your favourite artist?
would you buy an autographed record?

im pretty indifferent about that...except if it was an
autograph by some hot lady :)

um, yeah... i guess i dont really care.

i mean, autographs are more for status on the part of the
person who owns it.

to me, nah... it dont matter.

they had their hands all over the music, thats good enough
for me.

It would only matter to me if they had done it for me as in
I asked them to sign it.

so no... if one is being sold, it' loses its sentimental
value.

well, if you met them and had a good conversation or
something, then yeah... it'd be like having a picture from
vacation.

richard could you please sign my record? you know so i can
watch your autograph sometimes!? i dont get it...what is the
value of getting an autograph?

there isnt.

maybe sentimental fondness or remembering how good the show
was.

sometimes people need stuff liek that to jog their memory

Autographed items are great for collector's value. If you
don't care about that, then why would you even bother caring
for rare releases?

for rare releases - if i can get them in regular shop - not
used i get it, if i cant get it in the store i download it

I'd kill for a few autographed vinyls just so I could take
pix of 'em, post them on the web and brag about it

you never know whether it's fake or not. so, i wouldnt trust
it 100%.

it would be much more valuable for me IF my own copies were
signed directly by the artist.

I don't know about autographs really. I reckon if they
signed it for you then it's your copy to the max.

getting an artist to sign their name is one thing, but its
way better when they give a personalised message just for
you

offline Chri5py from my Solarbear (United Kingdom) on 2003-10-29 04:01 [#00923250]

same... it's a nice talking point saying how you got it
autographed and stuff...

I don't understand autograph books tho... i think it's gotta
be signed on something to do with the artist or famous
person.

i don't understand the whole appeal of autographed
memorabilia.. if i met an artist that i really admired, i
would just use the time to talk to them and ask them a quick
question or two, without the typical obsessive-fanboy
schpiel .. the "can i have your autograph, mr. holy one" and
the "i worship the ground you walk on" and "i bought your
feces on ebay" kinda thing..

actually yes, I'd love to have my favorite albums signed by
the artists... however the only reason is cause it would be
awesome to meet them, and ask them to do it... I wouldn't
have any desire to buy something just because it's
autographed... the only value in an autograph to me is if I
can get it myself...

it'd be funny to get a person or band to sign a cd from some
other person or band... heh, I was gonna do that one time...
I was in Ottawa, and this band called Wide Mouth Mason were
gonna be in a record store for a meet and greet... so, I was
gonna bring a cd I had by another Canadian group, The
Matthew Good Band, for them to sign... I didn't, but I
should've, it would've been funny... and it's kinda like the
picture of sean connery sign by roger moore on the simpsons!
:)
