World War III

so, who thinks there will be a third world war?

when do you think it will be?

what will cause it?

how devistating will it be? What will be the effects?

Do you think people will refer to it as WWIII when it
happens... or do you think theyll call it something stupid
like "Operation Joint Anti-Evil Campaign" or some such
lovely wording that only the good US of A can come up with

its all inevitable. There'll be a big fat nuclear war one
day, and boom boom boom and bang bang bang and everyones
fucked cause its in our nature.

you mean World War IV.. the Cold War was the third World War

It won't be called WWIII, that'd be bad PR. My bet's on
israel / palestine for the mushroom clouds to start
appearing.

no, I dont count the cold war as WWIII

and I dont nessasarily think the 3rd war, will be the one
with nukes... its possible... but not definate.

many do consider that the third world war

offline Zeus from San Francisco (United States) on 2003-10-26 17:16 [#00919514]
Points: 14042 Status: Lurker

exactly

if we started calling it world war 3, it would be chaos

people screaming the end of the world

wide spread panic

and yeah, I agree if the nukes start happening, its probable
that it will be israeli/palestinian

their judgement is clouded by too much hate... imo

im not trying to be difficult... ive just never heard anyone
refer to the cold war is the 3rd world war

I think the next war will come when the governments in
control lose their power over people, in a kind of we can't
hve so neither can you kind of way.

With the bush junta seriously discussing battlefield nuclear
weapons, israel almost certainly being nuclear-capable, and
the "disappearance" of nuclear material from the former
soviet union? I don't think we're responsible enough NOT to
use nukes eventually.

offline Zeus from San Francisco (United States) on 2003-10-26 17:21 [#00919521]

oh, it will definately happen deepspace... but i do think
that its possible it may be avoided for a little longer

skink... yeah, but I think that that will come after a huge
conflict... i dont think it will come to that without a
huge world event first... something that wakes people up

You also have to think what will happen if the "lost" nukes
are really lost what will happen when they detiriate.

I don't think that would start a world war but i think it
might somehow be a catyast for something major.

At the moment, the Bush administration is doing a pretty
good job heading that way, quick. They are the biggest
threat to world peace.

To be honest i'm pessimistic about a peace process
instigated by the US government, unless it would DIRECTLY
serve their own interests. Nuclear conflict in the middle
east will happen, it is just a matter of when, and how far
will it spread?

Id probably say China and perhaps an axis with other eastern
countries against the western powers, in response to British
and American oppression in the economy.

It would be a gigantic war of attrition, neither side
necessarily winning, but millions dying on each side.

it could start with a big nuke going off in say NY, maybe
Washington .. and no one claiming responsibility, .. sort of
like 9/11 - but where that nuclear line has been crossed?

and whats also freaky about 2013, is ive read some shit
about economic problems that will impact that year...

its probably all coincidence though

pachi- ours was in the hauge

since we where NK, no one wanted anything to do with us...
which was sweet... cause then we didnt have to do shit like
making and signing resolutions... cause we where against
everyone else.

alls we did was get ou voted when we voted no to all the
resolutions

korbeen: i dont know about that... i think it would be
logistically very hard to accomplish. not impossible... but
damn hard. you cant just walk around with nuclear material,
and be over looked by the government... they are always
monitering levels etc

zeus:

true. but then people didn't think pearl harbour or 9/11 was
possible before it happened (or did they?) ..

something of the sort would fit in pretty nicely with the
general neurotic characteristic of these "wars". ie. the
"itch" (eg. fascism, communism, terrorism etc.) that is
needed to "justify" the scratching ..

lots of hollywood movies work like that .. only in general
the scratching is portrayed as heroic/curative. so "if" one
were to have a culture instilled with this hollywood
mentality (any means necessary to justify the "just" end is
ok), ie. a culture already sensitive to such itches .. one
would need "some" itch of proportionate magnitude to the ww3
scratch?

so yeah .. mushroom clouds in DC hugely unlikely ..
palestine/israel seems a lot more rife for that sort of
thing ...

bleargh..

I agree with Nlogax... There are too many people just too
clouded by hate. I really think that if there is another
world war, and by world I mean almost every continent is
affected (not necessarily by the fighting, but by the
economies that are disrupted) then nuclear weapons will
probably be used. Then again, it may just be a naive hope,
but I tend to think that most people understand that using
nuclear weapons means that the world will pretty much end,
so I hope maybe somehow we'll figure out a way to keep them
from being used.

All the stuff about israel/palestine is so FUCKING stupid. I
don't mean to offend anyone from this place, but its all
because of religion. Fucking religion. Come on
people, think about it, could there really be some supreme
being out there willing that the enemies of his religion be
killed? I really do not believe in religion and this is why.
All it does is cause problems, and that goes for every
religion. (except for maybe buddhism or rastafarianism, most
true proponents of those religions usually arent to
keen on starting a war. ;)

yeah, I have alittle hope left in me, that people wont use
nukes... at least YET... because everyone knows it would be
like... the end of the world

and yes, I agree that religion causes alot of problems...

but just remember, its youre belief that its all religions
fault. its your belief that there is no god that would
support war

just as passionately as you feel this way... the religious
people feel just as, if not more passionately.

unfortunately... there will never be any way to prove who is
right... and hence, conflict will always remain.

observed when searching for 2013... articles and stuff...

one was that in 2013, the amount of social security needed
to be given to people, will not be enough...

and that for some reason (i forget) the electricity in the

just stuff like that...

but its all kind of irrelevent, cause I talked to my friend,

About the Israel/Palestine conflict, it's very possible that
something might flare up between Israel and Syria/Lebanon...
The Palestinians simply has no weapons to fight back with -
anything above what is currently being inflicted onto the
Palestinians would be slaughter, and the world would
probably stop it.

Actually, I know I'm right. People only put faith into

that there is no life after death. WAKE UP PEOPLE, YOU ARE

Actually, I can because most religions I'm familiar with
(though I can't say all because honestly I don't know the
origins of all religions) place man as a direct creation of
the supreme being, whereas science has PROVED that man is a
direct decendent of the apes. Try proving that with "god".
