I received this today and it is very good. Well worth the cash and that is not something I get to say very often these days. Another solid release that deserves to sell really well.
I played it to my pet tiger and it didn't try to rip my throat out, which is also a very good sign.

It's good, just nothing groundbreaking. Very nice production and a few nice melodies. You get Itsu on the mix CD if you preordered Spokes (I love the intro to Itsu).

i absolutely adore Quick Emix... its so... words cannot express!!! i've had the album for a while on mp3, but i've ordered the 12" at the record shop so dont have a go at me..
i think most of the tracks have kind of worn off on me... like i've loved them all at one stage, but Quick Emix has survived the test of time... Marry & the first 2 minutes of Even Spring are my favorites....

Compared to the last three albums it's not fit to lick their boots, a bold experiment and maybe a natural progression from P-Brane the problem is it's simply not very interesting. The upcoming DVD, if it contains new stuff, will hopefully set them back on track.

Even Spring (i read 'Cuca Spring' at the beginning... silly font... =P) is a surprising (my first reaction was "what the hell?!!") and quite unusual opener. it is quite good, though it certainly can't rivalize with other "Plaid with lyrics" tracks (which are almost always my favourite... Manyme, Extork, Lilith... those were so good!!)
Crumax Rins and Upona are nice... but not really memorable nor astonishing.
Zeal, Cedar City and B Born Droid are all excellent! i think the record really picks up steam into Zeal (though at the end of Zeal, it gets a bit loose - but it starts back with Cedar City). and Marry is very good too. i won't try to describe them, i wouldn't know...
Get What You Gave is "Myopia II". nothing more to say! ^^ welcome back tropical mood. : )
Buns is very nice.
Quick Emix isn't that good of a closer track though, whereas Spudink or Manyme were superb ones... Quick Emix is quite forgettable and doesn't make that much of an ending (something i criticize more and more now in albums, i noticed)... but well.
as a whole it's a nice album; they made a noticeable change in their style (except for Get What You Gave ; )), which is a nice thing too... but still, for now i think it's weaker than Not For Threes or Double Figure.
i'd say it is a record for Plaid fans, more than for the casual Plaid listener. not *astonishing* nor really original, but a very pleasant listen, if you like Plaid it is well worth the money. : )
i think it is a quite representative album of what 'idm' is too, without going in the extremes like some Autechre is.

(Quick Emix could grow on me later though.)
what i think makes it "weaker" than Not For Threes or Double Figure isn't the quality of the music itself, it is very good; but the general feeling of the album isn't as "strong". you can, after you've listened to it, listen to something totally different without thinking of it anymore... it doesn't make you "travel" as much... probably, the music itself is as good but it just isn't as "catchy".

"i'd say it is a record for Plaid fans, more than for the casual Plaid listener."
I disagree.
I for one, think most of Plaid's stuff is kind of boring (not enough of an edge), but I think this album is pretty good.
and I have heard more reactions from people who where indifferent to Plaid before.
it seems the Plaid fans are the ones that seem disappointed by this release.

I bought this yesterday... and I think it's really cool... now mind you, I haven't been listening to Plaid very long... with the exception of P-Brane which I bought over a year ago... but hey, it's nice enough... gonna take some more listens to really get into it I think... but there's a few songs, track 7, 8, and another one, which really are great already!!

Listening to it again right now, and while I might be partial to their other releases, Phobiazero is right, 'even spring', 'zeal', 'Cedar City', and 'Marry' are all "TOP" tracks and some of the best I've ever heard from Plaid.
The more I listen to this album the more the other songs will stand out for sure, but I can honestly say with content that Plaid can do me no wrong.
p.s. That Vocal edit in 'Even Springs' kicks major booty. When I first put the album in and heard that I was like Holy Shit that rules.
