hello everyone
I hear a lot of talk on this board about what people enjoy
listening to and it's really predictable these days.
The positive talk seems to outweigh the negative by an
unhealthy amount so I was wondering which
artists/labels/bacon/etc in this genre do you all think is
rubbish.
Personally I dislike vsnares, used to be well into him but
now I have severely gone off his stuff.

Let us release our fingers from the restraint of praise and
watch as they run riot over the red-hot keys of criticism.

I think Chris Clark is very, very boring. Don't see
what's so special about him, but I see people talk him up
quite a bit.

Now Leafcutter John on the other hand... there's someone
worth mentioning. The Housebound Spirit is very
entertaining.

intresting, im tempted to agree with you really, that
straightforward techno / "4 on the floor" stuff doesnt do it
for me at all.

nah but quite a few of the releases are like that, i do like
some of them though, ovuca, astrobotnia, cylob, bogdan.
i'm talking about stuff like bochum welt etc,
i don't really like the "electroclash" stuff like dmx krew
and that either.

Horsefactory, you can drop names but it's still obvious you
don't know what you are talking about. Music is supposed to
be fun, don't prove yourself to be a pretend follower of
trends. I used to think you were funny.

Good, I like the idea of Electroclash though, ok
fischerspooner have done some shit but I think it could be
fun if some people would dare to do something.

dmx krew is bound to appeal more to a certain age range ie
30+ crusties who can remember paul hardcastle. and rephlex
releases a more varied selection of electronica than any
other label i can think of - a breath of fresh air in the
stagnant restrictive suffocating chamber of the current
electronica output, hence my favourite label.

i would love to express my opinion on electroclash further
but i won't, evidently i don't know enough about music to
have one.
i also do not want to put myself at the risk of receiving
another scathing comment such as "I used to think you were
funny."
i'm off now to pretend to follow some trends.
see you

Rephlex are cool! It's fun to play around with genres but
you've got to 'keep it real!' why did I say that!!!! It's
soo obvious if something is shit or not... if it were me
I'd sign the white stripes, aphex and some other people...

well, i really like autechre, and boc, and ... oh..
nevermind.

hm let's see.
broadcast really bores me.
they've been given so many good reviews, but 'ha ha sound'
is REALLY dull.
they're on warp, so i dont care.

and.. beige. and, crap this is hard.
i agree with what;s been said about rephlex, some of it is
crap while some is amazing.

i dont think i could name a single "sound" in the idm genre
that pisses me off. each has its shit artists/good artists.

i dislike a lot of minimal...mille plateaux and all that,
but then you get people like david kristian or mitchell
akiyama who actually do something interesting with it. i
dislike a lot of micro/glitch house producers. but then you
get someone like sutekh who decide to do something
interesting with it. hell, "fell" wasnt even house.

though i guess if i had to choose, id pick a lot of the MORR
music stuff. besides isan, a lot of people on that label rub
me the wrong way.

i find boring :

Two Lone Swordsmen
Hrvatski
Passarani
Pre - Double Figure Plaid
Most Rephlex stuff.

there havent been any technological or structural or general
musical breakthroughs for everyone to jump on like there
were in the mid-to-late-90s so it'll be awhile before people
..fans of this genre in particular and the general public et
al.. to really be wowed by anything like they were about 5
years ago

right now the best thing for elec. music is to enhance other
forms of music .. like what radiohead and notwist and
visionaries like myself are doing

I plan to rupture the eardrums of listeners with a pointy

i hated lex's new album the blurring of trees.

most of warp is pretty boring, save for the pimps that
started it.

and fuck digitonal, what a PUSSY. really contributes the
ruining of toytronic records. a shame.

a lot of planet mu is balls (like shitmat. come on.)

don't care too much for the releases on n5md, save for vesna
and quench (ml was ok). proem = sacks.

i thinik the vast majority of what i have heard on
tigerbeat6 is terrible...
some rephlex isn't that great either... but for every not so
good release, there is one that is cool...
as far as warp stuff that isn't all it's cracked up to be:
Brothomstates, Jamie Lidell (although i feel like i'm just
not getting it yet... his stuff with S_C is so fucking
sick), Nightmares on Wax is pretty boring... fuck it... it's
no fun to talk about what i hate...

the only idm "artist" i won't even give a chance to is
vsnares. everything else, i'll try it out once. even if he
put out a half-decent piece of music, he's still the kind of
guy who's obsess with little girls being harmed sexually. i
just cannot, in good conscience, support anything having to
do with that person's "art".

just go to the amiga mod scene (forgot the site) and
download bstates 92394203942834 tracker files (under dune).
some of which are quite cool (blak scpek and caero in
particular)

get some distance/lackluster while your at it. plenty of
mods floating about.

as far as NEW bstates yeah that would be cool. supposed to
be a merck ep of some sort, though im not entirely sure.

I wasn't entirely serious, suppose I should've thrown in a
':P' looking back at it.

I can understand what you mean about some of Snares' stuff
being tasteless to say the least. But I'm willing to believe
it is just art.

You're missing out on some interesting music though, even if
the 'music' part is debatable :D
