I didn't have a massive expectation of it as i didn't really take to 'Freak' as an LFO track, but the album is a combination of millionare dogs and freak as it alternates between that reconisable techno tone and the more glitchy side (a possible reflection on the way music has changed so much since mr bell started dabbling)
although it does take a fair few listens to get into the mood for it..

I have to admit I didn't like it at first, but it has grown on me a lot over the few listens after that. Bit of a shame Butterslut and Millionaire Dogs aren't on there, but you can't have everything. It's got a good sound to the whole album, sort of old danceable electronica, but with modern production. I'll probably include it in my next warp order.

It's looped three times at the start of the last mix tape I made :)
I reckon I'll to do an extended mix of it myself now I know it's not on the album.

I've heard most of it, and I love it. I like the style and thumping beats, kind of a Caustic Window/AB3 vibe to me... similar sounding production.
The ''robot'' voice just isn't cool or funny or cute or hip anymore though. That's my only quibble.

In these days of the Ventian Snaresesque Everything and the Kitchen Sink approach, I can see how it could be poorly recieved though. But I'm diggin' gritty 4/4 beats now.

Indeed, it's not all about how clinical your beats are or how technically stunning it sounds, or how many mad sterile clicks you can cram between 360 beats per minute.. If it sounds good it damn well is good.

Known as "the Waltz King of Europe," André Rieu was raised on classical music and began taking fiddling lessons at the age of five. He conducts the Strauss Opera and has recorded public-television specials in the United States as well as musical albums for Polygram. Of the latter, both Strauss & Co. as well as In Concert made several European charts in late 1996.

this isnt some sort of elite club where you filter out opinions. its a message board. expect to get some opposition on a topic about lfo sheath, regardless. people can still have opinions and not be complete jerkheads too, (though im finding this more rare lately).
i didnt hate or like sheath. theres no way i could go an extreme side on it. it was definitely a lot better than i thought it would be (didnt like freak much at all), but it had equal moments i wasnt too satisfied with.
all in all it was a nice listen. not something id listen to a lot but its worth checking it out.

im glad to see a praise thread about sheath, i was begining to think it was just me who liked it
i think its really good, quite deversed, i think tracks like "mum-man" could be some new direction, i heard lory d play similar stuff (not so many melodies, but the feel to it was the same) this weekend and i enjoyed it a lot
definitely "sheath" is a nice surprise for me, as i wasnt expecting anything

man i can't tell you how good it is, i'm just relieved my copy finally shipped today after an apparent 1 week delay in the US (it's still not in most chains). i'll finally get to hear it next week. let's just hope the previous 2 LFO albums are reissued in the US and that any upcoming EP's also get some decent distribution. i'm curious to hear who remixes some of the new LFO stuff and how many b-sides will actually be released (any more compilation appearences? why don't warp artists participate in compilations lately? also, totally separate, but why don't people like radiohead, bjork, tool, and other big artists do compilations anymore? they're fun.)
