Any reasons not to get it? Technically, I mean. I have put
my hatred of all things Apple aside in favor of 30Gigs
(BABY!)

Would be perfect with a removable hard drive.

A beautful piece of design, the kind of thing I dreamt of a
a kid.......

as per most of Apples stuff, the kind of features you take
for granted until you have to go without them...

Wish they did an all balck one (altho Phillips have a very
nice one coming on...)...

Get an iRiver instead. I've got the 256MB version. It's so
small, you don't even notice it hanging around your neck. It
takes one battery, that lasts ~20 hours. Has a voice
recorder and FM tuner too.

ya but its 256MB
i have a nomad. cheaper, but the battery is kinda
irreplacable (though its supposed to last forever). its
shaped like a cd player so people dont steal it.

I want an iPod too (10 GB would be OK enough) but can't
afford one, big surprise :S

Might look for a 2nd hand iPod when I can afford one.

You can buy covers for them Jand. Can't remember where.
Although it's probably quite simple to make you're own as
well...

ipod is awesome, I owned one of the new ones but had to sell
it to afford a powerbook. If you can afford it get it, have
a look on ebay, you might be able to get a good deal.

this one is just as good.

released about 2 weeks ago... it was shipped on saturday so
should be on my doorstep any day now :)

yeah, but the price, man. A 40gb iPod is what, $499 - the
creative one (60gb) is like $490.

I'd say you're pretty stupid if you go out and buy a 40gb
mp3 player at $500, when you can get a perfectly good
alternative with 20gb extra storage at the same price.

I mean, it's just a fucking harddrive in a shell..

have a 'faithfulness card'!

allright - but anyway, if you look past the fact that you
have this 'I'm a hoopy frood card', buying an iPod just
because it's an iPod, is as stupid as, well, as stupid as it
gets, really..

might as well buy a penis pump, then

That Zen player is pretty hackable too. Since it uses a
standard laptop hard drive, you can buy the cheap model,
void your warranty, and carefully slot your 80GB laptop
drive into it.

i have the old 5gig model, and it works great. i must say,
5g is enough for me, i mean that is about 1000 songs fully
loaded, at 160 kps. i don't even fill it all the time.
usually about half, and leave the rest as HD storage. the
only thing i would be concerned about (as i am with mine) is
how long the battery will last before you need to replace
it. and how much it will cost when you do. other than that,
it wonderful.

a bit heavy tho...

don't get the ipod, it has the worst battery time on the
market!
i bought my x-clef hd-500 for like ¤300, works superbly.

yeah, there are perfectly good alternatives to iPod, which
is just for show, and it costs more than a fucking boob job
(not that I'm getting one, but, uh, w00t..)

battery time is not that long, but long enough for me.
