'Ya learn from the best to beat the rest...'
I tried slashing up a 'pop / dance' CRAP compilation that someone abandoned to my free will with my trusty Swiss Army Knife, and ended up ruining any chance of playability.

glitch techniques?
well... one that I use, and I like, is cutting off the end of a sample, when a new one starts...
what you need to do, is export your drum tracks (or whatever you want glitched) to wav
then open the wavs up in your sequence. Go in, and where ever there is a new drum hit (or sample triggered), go in, and cut the previous sample off, right on the beat where the new one is hitting
this works esp well with drums... long sustained hits... like fat bass drums, or cymbols, or whatever... it makes it all feel more rigid and "glitchy"
it is somewhat of a time consuming process though.... but I think it helps alot

"glitch" how boring! It was fun a few years back when DATs would make this sound. Stop being soo retro and copying other people. Post some music when it means something, not a replicative process.

yes, there is an option in most programs...
but the thing is... its not a sample accurate function. Im talking about zooming into the samples, and cutting it precisely.
There is a noticable difference between doing it my way, and the option way.

In FL Studio ya open a sample in beatslicer, autoslice it or tune it by hand, then snap the slice points to zero crossings, switch back to FL studio and each slice is mapped to a key on your midi keyboard. Tada

Im having a hard time explaining without use of visuals...
say a drum hit lasts 4 seconds long. you hit another drum at the 3 second mark... and it is being played at the same time as the decay from the first drum.
so... you go in, and cut out the last 2 seconds of the first drum.
Know, I know you can specify this in your programs... but when it comes down to it... on a very small scale... these sequencers arnt sample accurate when dealing with non audio sequencing. they are exact enough to sound fine (even logic is like this).... but if you where to take a track you did... export it to wave, and put it back in the sequencer.... zoom in, to the samples... where the first hit of the sample is.... its not exactly on the beat. So, you slice it alittle bit, and move it on to the beat.
And similiarly... if the attack is somewhat off... then the end of the sample would be off too.
see what I mean?

I find the digitizer module in the Nord does a pretty good job, but it depends on what you want. Sometimes two or three in a row or patched in at different points work nicely too. 3bit audio at 32Hz sampling rate sounds rather glitchy.

I planned on physically carving up the disc, sort of a post - modern take on Matmos (god, that sounds pretentious), but if it's easier to digitally chop up, well, there goes my post - secondary budget...
