tomorrow I'm going off with my older brother to climb
An-Teallach in the West of Scotland. Below are some pictures
of it. If you never hear from me again, assume I fell to my
death or something romantic like that.

Who wants my book collexion?!

"as flat as ya ma's tits" is a common saying by mine. Fo
example if the car tire is flat you would inform you friend
"I won't be coming to yours today because me tires as flat
as ya ma's tits"

Have fun. Try to slaughter some bears and make coats out of
them, a la Anthony Hopkins and Alec Baldwin in The Edge.
That was so hardcore, I know you have it in you.

hi, I'm back from climbing An-Teallach, and it was amazing!
The mountain is a kilometre high, starting at sea-level, and
it was really quite hairy several times - most of the time,
if you slipped, that would have been it - no way of stopping
yourself, and you would fall to you death. When we got to
the top of the first peak, Sail Liath, just under a
kilometre high, the wind was really blowing, maybe 60 mph.
We looked over to the next peak (Corrag Bhuidhe) which was
very steep and very rocky, and debated continuing. Finally,
we descended into a col, and made our way to the base of it,
and it was too tempting. We climbed the rock face, making a
traverse of the mountain for a while, with the wind still
blowing hard, and we walking a narrow path along the steep
side. Finally, we spotted a way up to the peak, and climbed
jutting rocks to the peak, which contains Lord Berkeley's
Seat, which is famous because if you dropped a stone down
from there, it would fall the longest period of time, in the
whole UK, before hitting anything, It juts out, and faces a
kilometre down into a lovely valley contain Loch Toll an
Lochain. Once up there, it was an easy scramble over to the
peak of Sgurr Fiona. Then there was a very steep and rocky
descent, before one last climb of 140 metres up to the
Bidein a'Ghlas Thuill, the highest peak on the mountain. The
views were absolutely spectacular, 360 degree panaromas of
the surrounding mountains, also we could see the West coast
shore, and some of the islans of the West Coast - maybe even
Skye. Our long descent began with a treacherous and
extremely steep scree run, which ended in a narrow path
zig-zagging down - at times, it become muddy and pretty
slippy, especially when it ran parallel with a small stream.
We also saw some lovely waterfalls, deer sheep and mountain
goats on the steep slope. It was all so amazing! When our
photoes are developed I'll let you see them. A kilometre
high above the landscape - fantastic!

hehe - next time I'm gonna take some ROPE with me! There are
some nice bits of rock-climbing to be had, but only if
you're secure! There are some loco people who do
rock-climbing without any ropes or anything. I have the
utmost respect for their courage!

Freestyle rock climbing.... Woah! Balls of pure steel needed
for that. I can't do that myself. I'm fine when I have the
rope but when I see these people gaily clambering along
100's of feet in the air.... woah.

you can only watch and admire open-mouthed! new respect
found when you've climbed a mountain yourself, and know the
dangers involved. It's all very well climbing a little rock
face at ground level, but when it's stuck on a mound a
kilometre high, a kilometre which slopes steeply to terra
firma, the mental aspects REALLY start to kick in!
