Renoise...

I have tried using renoise unsuccesfully because everytime
I start a track I end up with scatty bits all over the place
that I really like but it is almost impossible to change the
order without needing a really good memory for numbers,
which I don't have when I am stoned. I have had to read
what I have written twice so far to remember what I am
writing about. I really do need to calm down on my herbal
friend :D

Renoise is awesome once you get the hang of it. It's all i
ever use. Keep on messing with it and you'll eventually be
glad that you did

I took three days off work sick so I could practise...and it
hasn't worked. I can't sleep...my girlfriend is always
drunk, I have smoked 2 onces of weed today...and Tony
Montana wants the yayo.

I dunno what I mean :P The pattern lanes and everything, I
am used to working in midi, it is just a culture shock and I
am wondering whether it is really worth it.

But the pattern sequencing it a bit of a hassle. Also does
anyone know how to open a new document without having to
shut it down and reopening it?

Is there any way of copying patterns between tracks?

yeah, on advanced edit.. choose track, then copy, then scoot
over to a blank track and choose paste from the same area.

Like from one RNS to another. :S

What do you use?

Ableton is what I've been looking for, for years! It's
immediate, no boring 'homework' style programming and it
works!

Tell me your set up and what you'd like to do and I'll sort
you out!

"Sorry I never meant between tracks I meant between files.

"

that also works(ctrl +c thing) for that...just copy and open
a different file

Cheers mate...at the moment all I actually have is two
computers and a midi keyboard (bit shit i know but I am only
starting out), but at the moment I don't know exactly what I
want to do...I have ideas in my head but I can't get
anything I do to sound right. :(

But you can't have two files open at the same time?

I can't explain...I am too stoned...and this is messing with
my brain, tomorrow might be a better time to write what I
mean if that's OK :D

Billy The Jazz Robot

and some other wanky things..AHHHHHHHH nothing works :P

thing... If you need some help I'll do it.

"I took three days off work sick so I could practise..."

Ha ha, quality! A guy in my work used to take 3/4 days sick
whenever a game he really wanted came out and he'd usually
finish it in those days- just playing it 18 hours a day. We
always used to joke, ah new Final Fantasy out next week- so
you'll be home then?

I never took sick leave off work specifically to do music
(although I have taken single days holiday when I get new
software/equipment), but a couple of times I "extended" sick
leave (IE didn't go back to work as soon as I could have) to
work on tracks.

I own my own company though so taking time off isn't really
that much of a hassle, I just feel a bit guilty sometimes,
especially when I have nothing really to show for it. :D
