yeah ever since the creation of this place this topic is
probably still king... everyone will say their opinion and
then it will turn to a pointless thread that had nothing to
do with the first basid question. yes.... if i had to say i
could only take my AFX or AE collection with me for life id
say id take the AE.. well I dunno, its such a bad question
because it really doesnt make sense

my autechre collection is not NEARLY as expansive as my

eh? no no i was into aphex before i even heard of autechre -
through aphex i learned of the rest of warp's stuff and ive
been trying to get ahold of more ae ever since. but much of
their stuff is a BITCH for me to get, at least in texas. =(

to be honest though, i've listened to more autechre lately
than afx - perhaps i've burned myself out on RDJ?

I love my Aphex, but currently he's stuck in drill n'bass /
noise mode, whilst Autechre are pushing the boundaries of
sound way beyond anything we've ever heard. Uncategorizable
(is that even a word?).

When Aphex Twin comes out with something that pushes a bit
of new ground and a fresh new sound, I'll slide AE into the
background once more.

I still think RDJ crafts the greatest melodies and rhythms
of all-time however.

I CAN'T DECIDE DAMNIT!

ae without a doubt.

although if it was ae / boc i would find it difficult.

offline fabrique from at sea level (Estonia) on 2003-09-04 10:18 [#00849632]

Definitely Aphex.

Why? Just listen to his melodies and analyze the song
arrangements. The guy is a gem. Autekker sounds plain to my
deaf ears.

If I would compare these two to the layers of the earth - Ae
would prolly be a
"core" and aphex would be the "soil" ;)

I'd still choose boc over ae...

Aphex Twin overall, though I listen to Autechre a lot more
than the Jamester lately. I just think he's done a lot more
for the world.

Autechre... just more interesting to listen to... and
despite what some people may say, I think Autechre has the
best melodic sense around...

Fo' def. I don't get how someone can compare Ae melodies to
At melodies.

Aphex Twin has: Alberto Balsalm and Film (for a quick
example) have melodies Autechre could only wank over.

hah xammax, i thought that was pretty funny actually.
but yeah, i definitely agree The_Funkmaster, autechre's
melodies are seriously better, just not as obvious.

There is some truth in it HF

You don't have to get fucked up to listen to Aphex Twin

Yeah I was only kidding *rolls eyeballs out of skull*

Seriously though I have a long way to go as far as Autechre
are concerned... them and Aphex will probably be equal
soon.. unless Aphex gets his act together.
