This is awful...

...I'm DJing at the worst gig of my life. Equipment
failure, awful crowd. People requesting things, then not
dancing when they're played.

I'm trying desperately to DL Sean Paul - Like Glue, which
has been requested seven times so far this evening.

Who says laptop DJs aren't checking email/on MBs eh?

So, a Q. for those of you who play live, what was your worst
gig and why?

Ha ha, it's going to pot while I'm away... I can see people
leaving the Marquee. Oh well, it'll be over in two hours.
Maybe by then "Like Glue" will be downloaded on this awful
56k link :P

Just tell them, due to technical faults (or the DJ can't be
arsed...) that the show is over....pack your stuff up, and
go home! :)

He he, I've been granted 15 mins reprise, whilst my deputy
is fully deserving of a "can't mix" t-shirt, he is at least
keeping the music playing, so those who are so drunk they'll
dance to anything are still dancing. Only 10 mins till I can
harvest kazaa's sweet rewards and give the kids what they
want.

Come on Sean Paul, get the dance floor full so I can play
nannou2 and kill the party once and for all >:D

I'm actually skipping between a net pc and a machine with
traktor that I have queued up :D By the sounds of it that
has run out and the person watching it has taken over.
They're now playing Tatu - Not Enough... I'd better get back
;)

Fookin' A got it... time to burn a cd and get back to it.
I'l let you know how it goes. I still can't understand a
word sean paul says, but the electronic organ on his track
is groovy.

I can't believe I'm being payed to do this.

we were doing this thing at a guys party and hes like
notorious for being a total arse when intoxicated, and yeah
he was, but that was fine cause we were too, but some stupid
alco-raver girl started harassing us wanting us to play
trance music and we only wanted her to fuck off forever.

some fucking drunk idiot came up to me and requested a song
by Nazareth...(i was playing Squarepusher when he asked
me)....same night, i was gonna put AB3 on, and of course, i
put it in with the wrong side and everything just shut
down...i couldn't even get CD out, caus eit was some kind of
lock mechanism on the cd-player. also on the same night; the
bouncers there told me it was too loud, so it had to lower
the volume at least three times....so, yeah, i've been
there.

Worst gig - part of the WAMI (western australian music
industry) official gigs (which is like really cool) I got up
onstage and then PC I borowed from The Last Ninja to play on
was fucking up, and then someone who frequents this board
managed to pull thge plug on it due to a misunderstanding
and then I was told by the owner of the local label who ran
the show (the "other" IDM label in perth, ie the one I'm not
affiliated with) told me I have 10 minutes. That's it.
When the Pc boots back up its completely fucked. You know
how computers are. And they booted me offstage. I left the
cluib. About 15 od my friends made a huge effort to come and
see me for moral support (which was damn cool coz none of
them are really into that kind of music) and I was a very
very dark kid when I left that place.

Another gig I managed to fuck up something in the ver of FL
thius dude had on the laptop I borrowed for the set and I
played off mp3s and some shithead reviewing the gig was
nosing around the laptop and saw I was playing mp3s and
wrote it up in a review.

I've also had people heckling me telling me to play some
fucking gabber which sometimes I think is really cool, but
sometimes it just totally discouraging.

I've only ever been paid for one gig (I think) and that was
like 20 bucks or something.

This is why I never bother playing live. Also it's just too
much shit to set up.

I played a few shows with him, truly a great guy. I borrowed
his PC usually to play sets on.

If you see him tell him od said hi, that might spin him out
a bit ;-)

Oh and that gabber comment thing happened when I played this
show pissed out of my brain....ugh I did beatboxikng on the
mic infront of a crowd of about 30ish ppl. Damn I am dumb.

I didn't speak with him much, but I remember he wasnt even
on the flyer for that NOIZEKLUBB gig, but there was a spare
spot for him so he got it.
He's with "8-bit" or something is he?

Yeah he is and I think the story with that gig was that he
kind of showed up and he is good mates with Wayne
(NOISTRUCT) and kind of managed to squeeze into the lineup
at the last minute.

8-BIT recordings is the deal that I'm on. Sort of.

That gig is finally over, it went on for too long for my
liking. My back is aching at the moment from over 7 hours on
very low tables. Probably the least receptive crowd I've
played to, but at least floor fillers worked.

Quite a few people were interested and watching me mix, but
it became annoying when they were trying to talk to me all
the time and wouldn't let me concentrate. In the end I put
my headphones on and just ignored them till they walked
off.

It got quite nasty after I finally went to bed, a guy who
fell asleep in the bed of the girl whose birthday it was
kept on refusing to move even when several people tried to
move him. He ended up breaking one of their noses before
shouting "Fuck off!" loudly enough to wake everyone in the
house. At least he had the decency to stick around the next
day and apologise.
