Oh my gosh. Ever since I got ahold of the 320kbps version
of this record I cannot get enough..

I love it man. Produced right smack dab in the middle of my
favorite phase of his career. It all goes together so well..
Nice beats, nice melodies, nothing to analize, just good
music with no distractions. It has become the pomme
dishwashing score over the past 4 days.

I know some people dislike it. Are there any fans in here?
What are your favorite tracks? Can anyone name the owners of
the 5 copies of this fantastic record?

yeah man.. go for it!

for fucking years I had a PURE SHIT version that was ripped
from a fucking broken cassette. Track one sounds like it was
recorded using a pinecone and a cereal box. 90% of the
versions up on soulseek are this same rip, arrrgggh! Make
sure you have a good encoding of it.

Perfect segway from ICBYD & MFM..

ever heard are the selections that aphextwin.nu had
posted....

I only really like the first track and... I can't remember
the other one. Both really playful, in the Melodies from
Mars way... loved it.

320kbs, eh? Yeah, the other rip sounded like trash, and I
lost my MP3s in the great crash of '03, and no better time
than now to get reacquinted.

i have the 256kb/s version. The sound quality is still not
good (like it was recorded from a cassette). I'd like to
hear the quality of these 320kb/s ABB5 mp3s you have. is it
on soulseek?

I was under the assumption that there were only 5 test
pressings in existence. If there are so many then how come
it is worth $1,800 mint?

Or are you saying that rephlex has many copies cause its
being reissued (heheh).

Please tell us all you know about AB5

offline xceque on 2003-08-26 13:26 [#00837351]

Apparently there were a big bunch of test pressings, er,
pressed, but only 5 found there way outside of Rephlex HQ.
Nice little nest egg for the boys... or something.

When you gonna be on slsk with this 320k-er, pomme? And
what's your slsk ID?

all i know (or been told) is that 4 copies exists outside
rephlex hq - but there are quite many inside those walls.
maybe 20 or 50.

that's what i've been told by the rephlex guru... whether
its true or not... i dont know...

w/alberto basalm shampoo ?

1)one question, how can you base a price of a "rare" record
based on what some tool will pay for it ? you could just
label it "priceless" or over $1000 or something like that

offline pomme de terre from obscure body in the SK System on 2003-08-26 13:35 [#00837366]
Points: 11941 Status: Moderator | Show recordbag

My knowledge of test pressings/white labels tells me that
they are usually done in batches of 50 or 100..

so maybe there are 46 copies @ rephlex.. maybe there are
96..oooh!

there was an official poll about this.

if some moneybags shells out X-amount for dollars for a rare
record, then I could see why the 'estimated value' for the
release would be this amount.. especially for something so
rare it would be impossible to get an avarage worth..

IMHO you shouldn't list "value" in the discog... it varies
too much and it constantly changing. Keeping an accurate
number for every release in the discog would be next to
impossible.
