Jega - Geometry... Best Electronic Album Around?

this is possibly my favorite electronic album... it's just
freakin amazing... seems to mix the best parts of Autechre,
BoC, Aphex Twin, etc into one nice pot... some points on
this album sounds like BoC, others like Autechre freaking
out... it's killer stuff definitely...

it beats out anything by Aphex Twin easily in my mind, and
it has a more playful feel to it then anything by Autechre
which I like... it's playful in some places, yet nice and
seriously beautiful in others... I don't know, this is
definitely one of my favorite electronic albums around, if
not my favorite!

What does everyone think?

hehe, I finally heard the Tron sample... the killer melody
in the first song is from Tron... the movie was on last
night, and I flicked to it and there was the song... so
cool, sets a great mood!! :)

Jega is the man - I wish he'd hurry up and bring out some
music, because Geometry is, how do you say, the shizzle my
nizzle?

I have it but hardly listen to it. So much to chose from.
What I have heard sounds really dark and glitchy. I think
i'll give it a whirl soon

great album!

heard the previews of his tracks on the Skampler in warpmart
a few years ago, then bought Skampler in first instance for
Jega alone.

then had a listen to 'geometry' in a store and was blown
away - mostly initially by recursion, by the way.

also check out Mike P's remix of the track 'geometry' on
"the cosmic forces of mu" compilation. doesn't seem that
different at first, but really groes on you.

Not my favorite by any means, but does have some cool tunes
on it. Syntax Tree, Motion Math, Inertia, trk #13 (can't
remember), etc.

Love the artwork, especially the stuff on the inside.

Very nice album with some top notch tracks on it:
- Recursion
- Post Mid Arc
- Doric

Surprisingly one of the first IDM CDs I bought in my life.

IDM is self destructive, like any form of
psuedo-experamental music.

Geometry is a great album.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention! I listened to a
couple tracks a while back and thought sneh - now I'm giving
it more of a listen and loving it.

The way the pitched bits are part of the rhythm is very
aphexy, as opposed to the idm approach too often taken where
it's like, here's the hard raspy bits, and here's the
floating detached melody.

according to mike p, this album was written completely with
an apple ibook, and a nord modular.

just a little fyi ;)

Rumors : Variance will feature multimedia content (read
music + video).

off topic: also, in a special issue of the french trax
magazin about Warp, Plaid said that their next album will
use surround techniques... I heard that Richard Devine is
also using 5.1 for his recent compositions ( he scored a
film ? ). Well any comments of any nature appreciated.

My God, is there anything a Nord can't do? You can get phat
analog sounds, tinkly FM sounds, you name it.

I'm gonna try making a track with nothing but Synth1 which
is a VSTi Nord emulator.

not really a rumor, as Jega himself has said so several
times.
