had to give it a couple of hours but.... Fucking ACE!
Surripere is a great track!

Why didn't someone tell me to get this ASAP before?
:)

You HAVE to get a legitimate copy...no MP3 ever does any
recent Ae track any justice at all.

i really want to hear it on vinyl. i got confield on vinyl
and it's lush.

I have it on CD, had to get it on vinyl too because:
a) It approaches and sometimes surpasses ae's best work to
date.
b) It has really nice artwork
c) 180 gram vinyl (:-D)

Heavy!

I now have all of ae's full length albums on vinyl (and EP7,
cause I consider it a full length). No better way to listen
to them, IMO. Including live.

you have to approach this cd differently than autechre other
works

listen to it about 5-6 times and let it sink in, its very
difficult to listen to until you understand it

I found it quite accessible for ae. Maybe after Confield,
which I really enjoy, and Gantz Graf, anything sounds
accessible.

Fav. tracks:
Surripere and V-Proc

very true, if you understand confield, and gantz_graf, its
very easy to understand draft 7.30

i love you autechre (sean and rob)

"understand" - welcome to the exclusive club of people who
understand autechre's music, mock everyone who doesn't like
them because they are of a lower class.

i think theyre shit.

I think "understand" is a justifiable word.

I dont "understand" what tori amos is all about... but it
doesnt mean Im a moron, or people are better then me.

Music is a complex language... its a human invention, and
thus, people have different perspectives.

If you enjoy it, then you "understand" what AE are saying
emotionally. If you dont, it doesnt mean anything, except
that you have a different perspective on music.

"understand?" ;)

1. Chiastic slide has a spot down through track 8 on the
last side that causes a static "scrape" each turn with a
smaller corresponding strip exactly opposite so it's like
"scc..........schhhs.........scc.........schhhs etc" You
can't see anything when you look straight at it, but held on
edge, you can see there's a problem. I odn' know how to
describe it, it kind of looks like lots of tiny 'bubbles' or
something in the grooves.
2. Confield. Lots of random static on the first side,
mostly VI scose poise. A little bit elsewhere too.
3. Draft is okay, but it skips way easier than any other
album i have.

I probably need a better stylus anyways, I still have the
one it came with.

IV VV IV VV VIII is the end of the life of a machine. its
final moments, its swan-song before death.

at least that's what it made me think of, but i haven't got
the album.

Yeah, it's remarkably oresome, but I still like Confield
more. Draft didn't surprise me much, and there's a couple of
tracks that bore me or just don't interest me... although I
think the beats are better, overall. I think the melodies
and synths on Confield beat it though.

look, i'll afford myself some snobbery and say that it
really *is* about understanding.

when stravinsky's score for the rite of spring was
premiered, parisians rioted in the streets. nowadays its
beauty seems intuitive to understand.

what i mean is, autechre demands of the listener the
patience to construct a new relationship with music -- a new
way of appreciating it, anyways. the beauty's not found in
all the regular places; you've got to find it in the
geometry, the sparseness, etc. hence, 'understanding'.

which isn't to say that if you don't like it, you
neccessarily don't 'understand' it. but anyways.
