anyone...ever...)

2. Amber

3. Incunabula

Draft is by faaaar the worst...and as for VI IV VI IV VIII
or whatever the feck it's called...don't ask...compare that
to any track off any of the first three albums...and cry...

I never understood why people like Cichlisuite so much. Not
one track on there sounds more than a sketch to me.

I started loving cichlisuite, but now even though I like it
a lot, it is not as good imo as most of their other releases

I've just listened again, and now I really like Yeesland,
Krib and Tilapia. I never gave it my full attention before.

Is it just me, or is Pencha just an early version of Arch
Carrier? All of the sounds are about the same. Characi does
nothing for me atall.

THAT'S NOT AN ALBUM!

*curses Ae for putting out EPs in album-sized jewel cases*
;-)

Mmm, it's about time they did something in a slim-line case.
They never feel like real single/EPs in full size ones.

The only problem I have with Chiastic Slide is the killer
annoying high-frequency in Rercury. It's a little too dirty
and catastrophic for my liking too.

at the very least, the fact that many people find albums
like incunabula, amber, and tri-repeatae to be some of the
best works of electronic released, is an real indication of
just how timeless some of it is... it's interesting: at the
same time as i think that ae have taken giant steps in the
progression of their sound consistently, there are still
some very crucial elements to their music that have more or
less stayed the same... slow moving bursts of ambient grime
rising from complex beatscapes...

i disagree with the statement that ae is emotional music,
and i don't believe that that is why many people here do
listen to and enjoy it... while i don't find ae to be void
of feeling, i don't think it is necessarily closely tied
with human emotion. rather i'd say that the architecture of
ae is a highly evolved form of artificial intelligence, that
has developed its own emotional language...
it's other worldy, i don't particularly associate ae with
any sort of images from earth...

I agree with Smyrma exactly. Tri Repetae is the best and
then Confield is very close.

As for the whole emotion argument, I finally came to the
conclusion that while the music itself is non-emotional,
non-referential, whatever.. the use of the pure and often
mechanical sounds and forms are very evocative and moving.
But it's a subtle thing, there are few Autechre tracks that
will send me into a fit of tears. It's these under the
surface links to the subconscious that always get me.. like
I've had the sounds in my head the entire time but never
realized it until I listened. This is mainly so with
mid-era work like Tri Repatae and Anvil Vapre. The former
made a remarkable impression on me.
As for associating images with earth or outer space.. I
couldn't pin it down. It seems like a combination of
reality and fantasy to me.

I own more autechre vinyl than cd.

I'd own more BoC vinyl if i saw it in the store more often.

incidently, i own 4 bill cosby stand-up albums and 4 by
Steve Martin.

^
i'm not sure why i decided to post that in this thread...
perhaps i am pointing out that i prefer to listen to
autechre on vinyl than c.d. regardless of the album.

and also, i prefer steve martin 1970's era stand-up over
other stand-up for record scratch samples...
again, kinda irrelevant but yeah, i don't care.

I love Incunabula and Tri-Repetae, including the two EP's
that are with the US version ++. I despise confield and
gantz graf, though the video kicks ass. And my favorite AFX
is prolly AB2, the SAW's, and the bradley's strider stuff.

i do enjoy all the albums

i was in this little shop called 'museum of unfine arts'
that sells vinyl and cds, and weird hippy clothes, and my
friend wanted to have a listen to grantz graf, so they put
it on.

the reactions of the people there were great. made my day.
