Is Amber neglected?

I've had this album in my CD player for about a week
non-stop. Am I the only one who feels that Amber is
absolutely beautiful?

Amongst all the Autechre talk, it seems that everyone talks
about Incunabula, skips Amber and continues onward with
Tri-Repetae.

The Autechre guide at lonelymachines.org describes Amber as
"poorly sequenced", and "lacking focus". I couldn't
disagree more.

What do YOU think?

it's what got me ON to autechre.

it's actually the only album i have copied in it's entirety
to tape for my car. i love this album. so so so so good.
when i make music...this is usually what i end up emulating
(but like...take it and shit on it. that's my music.)

They're probably referring to the order of the tracks.

I personally don't care for Amber that much, aside from the
track Yulquen, which I think is great.

The dude at loneymachines.org is a wee bit nuts I think.
His brain cells are poorly sequenced.

dude things can be "poorly sequenced". i wouldn't say amber
is, but it's a valid insult in electronic music terms
badly composed. sort of.

Amber is my favorite Ae album along with Confield... maybe
my 1st favorite. i agree it's really beautiful!! =)

(the beginning of 'Further' is pure bliss and iced
beauty...)

I think Amber and Tri-Repetae are better than Chiastic.

When talking about autechre, the word "better" doesn't
really seem fitting. It's more about which album suits your
tastes - all of the albums kick ass in their own little way.

Amber is insanely good. It's the album that made me feel
something for electronic, rather than just, I don't know air
drum or something. I don't have a favorite Autechre,
because I love them all, but that is DEFINITELY my
favorite.

(???)

I think Amber is great for music, not so great for Autechre.
Weakest album next to Incunabula which is, err.., downright
boring? It IS wonderful though, which some priceless
moments. Montreal and Silverside come to mind. Make me
want to cry.. so lovely. Also Teartear aptly named, no?

I'm yet to hear an Atechre track I like...........maybe I've
been unlucky with the stuff I've sampled but his old stuff
hasn't aged very well (Incunabula) & his newer stuff
generally turns me suicidal (Gantz Graf etc), although Amber
has been high on my list of stuff to get for a while as it
sounds wondrous.

I can't believe some people don't like tri-rep. GIVE IT
MORE TIME!!!! It took me about 20 listens until my ears
learned how to listen to it properly. It was like musical
enlightenment when it happened.

Trying to sort out the layers to tri-rep was my biggest
mistake. It wasn't until I was cleaning the house with
tri-rep in the background until I heard it the way it was
meant to be heard. AMAZING.

if i had a dime for everytime a person says something like
that, i would have somewhere around 50 dollars. give or
take

in any case, theres NO ONE EXACT WAY to listen to a track or
an album. i can't believe some people cant get this into
their skull. its just as bad as aphex fans trying to tell
people that there are "countless layers" and "whateverelse"
in his music, that im obviously too stupid to catch and/or
"havent listened to it enough yet. its there man! the layers
man the layers! THEYRE ALL THERE! LISTEN 29340293582935
MILLION TIMES THEN YOULL GET IT! PLAY IT WHILEST WORKING
WITH SHEET METAL! GENIUS!"

i say bah to that sort of thought. im exaggerating there of
course cause you arent, erm, that out there, but
still...theres no "one way its supposed to be heard". I do
like c/pach and clipper, and i have enjoyed listening to it
from time. more or less as "background music" or whatever.
so its not like im crapping all over it or anything.

i just said id prefer to listen to say, confield. or lp5.
thats my personal choice.

i dont have a problem with you liking tri repetae, thats
fine of course. aint gonna knock opinions or anything. its
just boring to me. you shouldnt have a problem with that
either yo.

ALL IN ALL we can all (for the most part) agree that
autechre is good.

so cheers to that

i like amber, but in my opinion it's not their best.. some
tracks are just pure class.. montreal, nil, yulquen,
glitch.. it usually doesnt take me too long to get into ae
releases, but with confield and draft i listened non-stop
for about a week or two, then put them aside, then a couple
of months later i listen again and absolutely love them..
i'm actually listening to draft again for the first time in
about a month or two .. awesomahj..343240897o4i43./4/460435
