RIPLEY, N.Y. -- A 20-year-old man died after falling 165 feet from a cliff he had scaled to help his stranded brother.
Gabriel Klau, of Ashville, died shortly after being flown from the Chautauqua County gorge, about 65 miles west of Buffalo, to the Hamot Medical Center in Erie, Pa.
Klau and his 18-year-old brother, Jacob, were swimming about 8 p.m. Wednesday when Jacob decided to climb the cliff alongside the swimming hole, Chautauqua County Undersheriff Dave Krieg said.
Jacob became stuck on the way up, Krieg said, and his brother was climbing up to help when he slipped and fell.

thanks for letting us know this very sad news!
i think it would be nice if peepz who knew him (however so slightly) would post some things they will remember about him......
i'll start with my memories:
- he had a wicked sense of humor =o) - he loved zelda (one of the highest post threads here) - he gave lots of good musical advice, a couple of groups to which i'll be forever indebted for to him!
- he was a good artist - he had great musical knowledge as evidenced in many many threads
- he liked kitty kots >^__^<
and despite not always agreeing with him, i WILL MISS HIM and i have a huge lump in my throat and tears in my eyes......
now something i DIDN'T know about him:
- HE WAS BRAVE!!!!!!
Rest In Peace FRIEND! =/

Hey everyone, its me again. Yes, that was the article in my local paper... He was an amazing, brilliant person- it is a shame no one here was ever able to meet him in person. Anyone wishing to send the Klau's a note, they would very much appreciate it. ( They know little about all the people gabe touched over the internet and through letter, i have been trying to bring all his long distance relationships to light).
their address is: ( i dont know the housenumber- but it will get there without it.)
Morely Road Ashville, NY 14710
His parents names are Jeff and Joyce, his brothers Jake and Levi
I am in the process of archiving all his artwork in high quality scans. Those of you who have seen his pencil drawings know he was an amazing artist. At somepoint I will put them online so others on the list can see.
Im sorry I wasnt able to post about this sooner, but ive been in pretty terrible shape, not to mention my computer not working and getting into a car accident.
As orphecks said- gabe recently got his computer back, and was waiting for his new DSL line to start working. I am sure he was excited to get back in touch with all of you.
I will check on this post as often as possible, and dont be afraid to email me. fur@kittymail.com

it's at times like these that I think the community here is the strongest, these supposed meaningless posts that he made, that we all probably took for granted, has touched us in a way that makes us feel like he was one of the family, a friend, through nothing else but text, there's no doubting that, to most of us here, there are members that are very important to us, through this messageboard I've gotten to meet a lot of people,.. real friends, and although I didn't know cabbog that much, his death still hits me as hard as someone dying in my family, because this is a family, I've seen this board build up from nothing, I often think "why do these people keep coming back and posting, what entices them to stay online for hours and talk when they could be out with friends or with their OWN family," and now I realise that they ARE spending time with friends and family.
this is a sad day for aphextwin.nu

"A cabbog is a living cabbage or lettuce with short stumpy feet and coiled tendrils for arms.. They communicate with soft gurgling noises emitted from their bowels. They're also well-known for protecting small woodland animals from beasts of prey. If a shrew or mouse is in danger, they simply nuzzle the cabbog with their noses or paws in which the
cabbog will in turn, realizing the urgency of the situation, spread it's succulent leaves offering a temporary safe-haven
for the poor creature. After the stowaway is snugly accommodated the cabbog will half-submerge itself in a patch of moist soil where it will stay until the danger passes. Am I cute or what?"
