Well, to be honest, even tho we release it in forehand we
cant include all info as they are parts of something
bigger.

so "that is all they've done?" comments are quite misleading
and should be avoided.

Well, I could be really snide and sarcastic about all
this, but I know how hard it is to do a site like this or
mine, and that no matter how long you work on it, it will
never be finished, and making the decision to launch or not
in an unfinished state is a big one and has benefits and
consequences:

Benefits:
1) get user feedback - always a good thing
2) keep your users happy
3) you keep up-to-date on the site content

Consequences:
1) It's been delayed a long time... people are expecting a
lot, and launching unfinished might alientate some users
2) Launching incomplete has a tendency to complicate things
in terms of changes to content, etc. - once it's up, it can
be hard to pull it back for maintenance, redesign, etc.
3) Because of the long wait and anticipation that's built
up, what has been done might be underwhelming and again
alienate users.

I think it would be good to launch and get user feedback and
go from there... at least then people would rally behind you
more than they already do (which is a good thing). However,
if it's no more than Aphextwin.nu, Autechre.nu and your old
Plaid site repackaged, people might be upset (I'm sure it's
much, much more than that though). I think you should launch
it, in whatever state it's in - after all, I launched with
literally 2% content and I managed to work things out
allright (I think). I'm still not done either! :)

Best of luck in whatever you decide Phob!

agreed, i think you're too affraid people will be
disappointed phob, but knowing a lot of members here a
little, they will appreciate everything that has been
done and give constructive feedback on some parts

i hope you let the poll-result/the members make the
decision
(not that you should, after all it's your project, but still
i hope you will)

thanks joyrex:

>Benefits:

yes

yes
3) you keep up-to-date on the site content
hmmm....

Consequences:
1) It's been delayed a long time... people are expecting
a
lot, and launching unfinished might alientate some users

yes, it'll be a nice filter.
2) Launching incomplete has a tendency to complicate
things
in terms of changes to content, etc. - once it's up, it can

be hard to pull it back for maintenance, redesign, etc.

not in this case...
3) Because of the long wait and anticipation that's built

up, what has been done might be underwhelming and again
alienate users.

expectations sucks.

get the whole-lot alive, would put pressure on us to work
even harder and it's easier to make priorities on what the
users really need.

I 100% agree Phob - what I meant about keeping your site
content up-to-date is in relation to news... it's hard to
add content like that after the fact, as it's lost some of
it's relevance. You've lost out on more than a year's of
electronic music events and news (both big and small), and I
think the users here would appreciate reading the news here
and on my site to get the both of best worlds.

And yes, expectations do suck, but that's what life's all
about - what you have to decide is how important your
expectations versus someone elses' are to you.

And yes, launching would make you work a lot harder in
getting it done, and also to decide what's important.
Although it does give you gray hair (you don't even wanna
see pics of me now since watmm launched) :)

yes. launch now.

everything joyrex mentioned is probably true. but, as of
right now this site is dead in the water (as far as content
goes).

and since no one is sure of how much longer it'll be until
the site is launch worthy. i say any taste at all of what
the future holds will breathe much needed life into the
site, generate buzz, generate trafic, and be neat overall.

No...you see. what i meant was, i want it to be like Ovuca's
site (this is a joke as Ovuca's site has nothing on it).

i really want Xltronic to come up. Like i really really do.
I would just be happy if i saw the layout.

But the thing is (i feel) is that no matter how amazing the
site is. the messageboard is probably the first thing im
going to go to.

Awww man, why'd you have to go and post that crappy old pic
of me? :)

I actually have less gray hair than that... but it won't be
long before I do!

I'll have to post the updated pic of me that my son took -
it's pretty cool (I think).

We're getting off the subject though.... :)

So make it official and launch August 7th, 2003 -
after all, last year you said August 7th, just not what
year ;)
