Phobiazero's Black List

offline marlowe from Antarctica on 2003-08-03 07:57 [#00806393]
Points: 24589 Status: Lurker

I'm thinking P. Zero should print out his black list as a
form of final warning. Those on the list will understand
that they are in peril of being permanently banned from
here, and hopefully it will buck them up, or lead them to
spiral into skyfarmeresque insanity --either way, things
would be resolved.

Give us the list, Ph., I for one am dying to see if my name
is on it.

I don't I would go on a black list for asking a question,
xceque, remarkably funny as your remark was !

Yes, I agree with that. I think it's better to warn them.

I was merely attempting a move in the general direction of
humour

*fails*

I don't know if publishing a blacklist would be a good idea.
People on it would just rebel with the attitude "well if I'm
blacklisted (what did I do????) anyway I might as well earn
it" and go on a troll binge. The people who would be on a
blacklist pretty much know who they are anyway I'd imagine.
Unless they're particularly stupid people.

THAT is what I'm talking about ! Have some vision ! If this
black-list were publicised, it would weed out those people
with the 'well, fuck it, I'm on it so I'm gonna cause Kaos'
attitude - they would explode - one week on, they're all
permabanned, and the others on the list can re-evaluate
their behaviour. It's not always obvious -- I have no idea
if I'M on the list, for instance. It's perfectly possibly, I
suppose - I, like many others, have been embroiled in
mini-spats, or the occasional bout of silly posting -
nothing major - yet, it might have warranted being put on
the list. Phobia is human - what he may let slide one day,
he may not the next.

If you were put on such a blacklist wouldn't you feel angry
(I mean, you wouldn't think you deserved it) so wouldn't you
want to rebel and cause extra havoc? Since your good name
was smeared unjustly and you couldn't change that, you might
as well do something to justify it, whereas before you
wouldnt...

Anyway, any descision on such a matter is in the hands of
the webmasters, not me.

I'm curious as to who's on the black list but I can see that
publishing it would cause the Towering Inferno of flame
threads.

Quietly ban ban ban and get it over with.

No - I'm not a tantrum-throwing two-year old. If my name was
on the list, I would mull it over, think over my behaviour,
and try to make sure I'm not goaded into pointless arguments
with the likes of promo (props to my man promo for being a
devil's advocate). And I would note that my exuberant funny
ways will need to be gently curbed by self to ensure I don't
offend phobes.

Communication is Key to ANY relationship.

Not Condescension.

well, basicly i think ýou are right. i know im on that
list, not that i would feel bad about being listed. but in
some way it would encourage people to be nice to get off it.
i don't know, and i dont really care if such a list is made.

The more appropriate question would be:
Who among those who regularly engage in debates and exchange
of opinions isnt on it?

Not counting moderators etc of coarse, they have been
granted automatic diplomatic immunity.

The point of that, fleet, is that one week of juveniles
throwing tantrums for one week is better than months of
slow-burning.

It's better to explode than to fade away.

One week on, and they're gone. Think about it.

Oh for pity's sake. Believe it or not (and clearly you
don't) but the moderators do make the effort to
moderate.

You shouldn't blame the entire moderator team as if it were
one synergised unit ("well it damn well should be" yeah,
well if this were a perfect world then maybe). The team is
made up of different people who's temperaments, opinions,
even moods vary from one to another, and from day to day. We
can't get it right all the time. We're not robots. We can
only moderate what we see, and deal with things we feel
deserve it. If you have a problem with the way things are
done, if you think we're hypocrital, it's probably more
likely a result of differences of moderator's opinions than
bias towards/against specific members.

I'm getting sick of folks moaning about how "my rights as a
member are being voilated" or "what's happened to free
speech", or any similar, sarcastic, versions.

I do what I can.

My point was missed again.
What I was trying to say was that it's unlikely that any of
the mods or the xlt team will be on this alleged blacklist.
Yes?No?
I didnt think so.
Thank You.

To quote HAL 9000 : 'take a stress pill' :P

I've no beef with any moderator. Some I consider to have
more tact - Ophecks, for one, even as he closes a thread,
will imbue a sense of humour to the proceedings.

tongue-in-cheek and unbannable fashion) that yer tryin tae

I don't get the impression Phobiazero is interested in
putting up with that week, or those months, or whatever. It
sounds like he's reached the end of his fuse and he wants
mass executions. :D

My suggestion is the most intelligent ! One more week is
worth it, to be rid of juvenile delinquents. Think about it
!! One week is hardly a long time - and if it means an end
to the troubles, then hey ! result !

behave nicely and there's def no reason for putting any mod
on that list.

bad, BAD idea to put up that list.

that'll be etched into people's memory for ages.

"shut up.. *coughBLACKLISTcough*" etc.

if I would be on said list and it would be posted, I would
feel like I'm on public trial. that to me would be like
branding people - "you bear the MARK!!" :P

best thing would be e-mails sent to those persons - phobia'd
know and they would know. so all the persons who really need
to know, would know.

now.. um..
