\/\/ooÆ’erAttack!!! from Milan on 2001-04-17 17:01 [#00003656]

What Do You Think about CHEMICAL BROTHERS?
.
I think some songs are interesting.
.
A particular song that I like is track 2, "UNDER THE
INFLUENCE" from last album "SURRENDER". Listen it.

Do You Hate CHEMICAL BROTHERS?
Do You Like CHEMICAL BROTHERS?
Are boring?
Are funny?

Tell me...

PostModernVancouver from Vancouver on 2001-04-17 18:06 [#00003658]

Chemical Brothers are IMO beyond average, not bad, bot far
from great.
To me its techno for the masses, just like that Daft Punk
baloney, excepth Chemical Brothers are far better then Daft
Punk.

po{e} from THE UK on 2001-04-17 18:46 [#00003661]

i agree with PostModernVancouver, their first album has got
to be the best, then they became even more
techno/dance/breakbeat for the masses, but they are very
talented musicians

Aphex Triplet from uk on 2001-04-17 19:02 [#00003665]

Having got all the albums, i obviously really like em. The
earlier u go back the better. Exit Planet Dust is brilliant,
(fast pace), Dig ur own hole is also good, (complete mix of
fast hard slow and melodic stuff), surrender is not so
outstanding, (more slow stuff, a bit too hippy, which is ok,
but only on rare occasions).

LSDemon from Austin on 2001-04-17 19:47 [#00003672]

I personally like the Chemical Brothers. I like Surrender a
lot, but that's largely because I'm a hippie at heart.

The other thing is, I like Daft Punk. The thing is that they
don't take themselves seriously, neither should you. "One
More Time" is supposed to be a self-parody. It's an overdone
pop song that was FUN. It's a satire.

"Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" is a good song. If you
get it off Napster be sure to get the 3:45 or so version.

All of that said, I like Aphex more than either the
Chemicals or Daft Punk.

d. griffiths from greasy cafe on 2001-04-17 20:21 [#00003676]

i think thier music is boring old pants these days, too
commercial for my tastes. when the 24th century sky ep came
out, it was totally fresh and blew me away (chemical beats
-1993ish i think), but it went down hill from there, wich
was due to alot of people jumping on the band wagon (fat boy
git).

d. griffiths from greasy cafe on 2001-04-17 20:22 [#00003677]

oh yeah, i like daft punk, homework is a classic album,
dunno bout the new one though, aint heard it.

hevquip from horse's foot on 2001-04-17 20:28 [#00003679]

chemical brothers are good, daft punk not good, except maybe
the song they made a music video of thats got the dog-man
walking around with a boom box

Quoth from Lincoln on 2001-04-17 23:05 [#00003688]

I HATE ANY ARTIST WHO's WHOLE ALBUM CONSISTS OF "thump,
thump, thump, thump" on the bass drum. THAT SHIT IS SO
FUCKING BORING, DON'T MUSICIANS KNOW HOW TO PROGRAM A LITTLE
BETTER DRUM STYLES?

[REFLEX] from Canada on 2001-04-17 23:18 [#00003689]

The Chenical Brothers are alright I suppose. I enjoy their
older stuff like Exit Planet Dust and shit. But their new
stuff is not really my thing. As for Daft Punk their new
album is crappy, and Homework is alright. Some tracks are
good, while others suck major ass.

LSDemon from Austin on 2001-04-18 03:47 [#00003706]

Dammit, I know I'm gonna make myself unpopular on this
board, but Daft Punk do not suck. If you listen to the whole
new album you'll find that they kick ass.

You've probably only heard the song "One More Time". I know
it's crap. I know it's pop. SO DO THEY. It was more or less
a joke. They've said so. It is a PARODY of people like Cher
who try to come in and make pop music using the electronic
style.

Notice how overdone the vocals are? "Tonight-ah!" You didn't
laugh at that? I know I did. Chill out, they don't suck.
This new album is probably as good as Homework, but don't
hold me to that.

[REFLEX] from Canada on 2001-04-18 04:49 [#00003708]

LSDemon: I don't think so.. I think that Discovery is no
good!

Ross from can. on 2001-04-18 05:27 [#00003709]

i liked some of their videos awhile ago, but i dont care for
them..i liked 'out of control' because bernard sumner from
new order was on it

[REFLEX] from Canada on 2001-04-18 05:33 [#00003711]

Chemical Borhters have some really good stuff [in my
opinion] and Daft Punks first album is so so stuff.. like a
6 outta ten..or 5. not too good.. but alright :]..
Discovery.. which I have.. is not good at all.. maybe a few
good tracks.. but otherwise no!.. if you want something good
kinda like Cemical Brothers sorta... then check out Deejay
Punk-Roc

od from australia on 2001-04-18 05:55 [#00003717]

the track dig your own hole of the CD dig your own hole
(IMHO the best CD) is wicked funky wah bass thoomping. I
dont like exit planet dust that much.....song to the siren
is dodgy i reckon. The 1st 2 tracks are good tho. they are
the dudes who got me into techno and music writing :)

\/\/ooÆ’erAttack!!! from Milan on 2001-04-18 07:37 [#00003726]

I like DAFT PUNK. I have the album HOMEWORK and I'll get
DISCOVERY.
The track 4 from "HOMEWORK" is great!

I hate the song "ONE MORE TIME", everytime I listen it I
change channel, but I know that it's only like a joke, the
whole album is different.

Now, I ask to this community: If is it better the album
HOMEWORK or DISCOVERY?

wooÆ’erAttack!!!

\/\/ooÆ’erAttack!!! from Milan on 2001-04-18 07:44 [#00003727]

About CHEMICAL BROTHERS, I have all three album. The best is
SURRENDER, then DIG YOUR OWN HOLE and last EXIT PLANET
DUST.

This is my opinion.

\/\/°°ƒer^Attack

TekN010G from Australia on 2001-04-18 08:41 [#00003733]

I'm a pretty big chemical brothers fan, I've got surrender,
dig your own hole, and I'll be getting exit planet dust
soon, If you can ignore the stupid tracks that they make
they are quite good, but unfortunately they do occassionally
put out some really shite tracks,(hey boy hey girl) but all
up I think they are quite good

d. griffiths from Amsterdam on 2001-04-18 08:42 [#00003734]

have you seen them live?, take about a shite show, they have
the art of DAT miming down to a fine art though.

CyberPfunk from Japan on 2001-04-18 14:10 [#00003769]

The Chemical Brothers do in fact suck live. Though I do
like their second album.
I like Daft Punk old and new. Why? Just for the cheese.
The styles of these bands are so different though. They're
not even in the same categories as far as I'm concerned.
Aphex Twin on the other hand has so much more depth, and is
in a league of his own.

takeshi on 2001-04-18 17:11 [#00003790]

I think Homework is better but Discovery has it's moments.

Quoth from Lincoln on 2001-04-19 01:01 [#00003853]

I'm telling you guys, why respect any artist who's whole
album is only "thump, thump, thump, thump" on the bass drum?
THAT IS SHITTY TECHNO RIGHT THERE. SHITTY TECHNO=DAFT PUNK

TekN010G from Australia on 2001-04-19 02:12 [#00003860]

if you think that all of there songs have boring drums
listen to "let forever be" and "orange wedge",.. It's
obvious that you haven't heard much of their "non-pop"
stuff, and while you're at it, have a listen to "the private
psychadelic reel", top stuff!!!

Quoth from Lincoln on 2001-04-19 02:40 [#00003864]

I was talking about DAFT PUNK... I think Chemical Brothers
kick ass personally. I enjoy Surrender, especially the
extra-bonus tracks, I think the one I enjoy the most is Out
Of Control (Sasha Remix) or something like that... the 10:54
one

[REFLEX] from Canada on 2001-04-19 02:48 [#00003866]

Chemical Brothers are pretty kick a$$ if you ask me.. which
no one really did. but ƒu¢k it.

od from australia on 2001-04-19 03:31 [#00003874]

yeah the priv psychadelic reel is pretty nuts

good call

d. griffiths from Amsterdam on 2001-04-19 09:26 [#00003904]

Quoth, your're talking out of your small minded ass, shit
man, you sound like a blinkered old fool, how old are you
70ish?.

Admittedly there is alot of shite 'thump thump' music, but
also there is some amazing 'thump thump' music out there,
like daft punk 'homework' for instance.

\/\/ooÆ’erAttack!!! from Milan on 2001-04-19 10:20 [#00003908]

About "Thump Thump" I'm agree with Griffiths. There's a lot
of difference.

I think Chemical Brothers are better than Daft Punk, but
Homework was an interesting album.

I have also "XTRMNTR, last album from Primal Scream". It has
"Thump Thump" but I like it, too. Especially the tracks 1&3
(similiar to Massive Attack style) and the song "Swastika
eyes (Chemical Brothers RMX)".

CLASSICS from RDJ has some songs with "Thump Thump" but I
like it, too.
However RDJ is much better than Chemical Brothers, Daft Punk
AND Primal Scream.
There isn't story!

My brother owns their new one and its good when you're in
the poppy mindset.

old and new daft punk alright, old and new chems
alright---the problem with both of them is that they never
got on to the 21st century.

Now, this might sound like facetious criticism, but I do
believe that the new Daft Punk is absolutely underprocessed,
mildly recycled, old-new rubbish. I only like, sorta, Prime
Time of Your Life. The two singles, Technologique and Robot
Rock, make me want to hate them real bad... But I resist,
since I've given them the benefit of the doubt before. But
the next album's gotta pick up on some new vibes! >:|

The new chems is definitely their worst as well... These
90's dudes just aren't top notch anymore. Reminds me of
Kraftwerk with their Expo 2000: recycled sounds, yet again,
yet again, yet again.

I do confess to having liked the Chemical Brothers in the
past, but their new stuff is boring-boring-boring, just like
the new Fatboy Slim.

Even the last Orbital album was hardly of immortal caliber.
(Still it's best of the bunch mentioned here.)

Yes, so if the next Underworld album sucks, I'm gonna be
singing requiem for these 1990's innovators. :0

i just have Dig Your Own Hole in mp3 so far, i used to like
it except from It Doesn't Matter, Don't Stop The Rock, Get
Up On It Like This and Lost In The K-Hole but now i like
them all a lot : )

so i'm thinking of buying it as well as Exit Planet Dust
maybe.
and maybe i will buy the Propellerheads album as well, since
all three are at a low price at some place right now.

The music resonse double 12" is good, its got a couple of
remixes and a wicked song called Freak of the week. I
listened to it at the weekend while I was doing some work
and forgot how good it is....in a DM kinda way, i.e not IDM,
but who cares, its all good.

i use to love them ; i own all their album except "push the
button" ; i admit that thei musical quality as decreased
within the albums ; nevertheless some tracks remain very
good on "come with us", whereas there aren't on "push the
button" imo
nowadays i'm a bit bored with them ; but for me they remain
alright for listening while doing something else (for
instance playing PS2)
