if the vid card you have cannot "capture" the vhs, and yes,
you need special inputs on your card+cabels from VHS to
comp, you'll need to invest in a capture card.

i'd sugest, if you need to upgrade ur vid card anyway, to
get one that can capture. a little pricy, but a LOT cheaper
then going to get strictly a capture card.

you probably need a video card that has input/output
capabilities?

Naw dood. The way your doing it is shit cause your streaming
in totally raw video. This is problebly the best way to do
it. Well there are 2 ways you could try it.
1. Find a buddy with a sony DV cam, put your tapes on that
shit then firewire it to your comp.
or
2. At my old work they use to have this thing it was like an
external capture card, it captured at 30 fps (or whatever
the eaxct number is ... 27 or something ?) but it also
ENCODED while it streamed in !!!! This makes for smaller
files. If you encoded DivX as much as I have you would know
that encoding sucks a bag of dicks, takes a morose amount of
time.

Plus when you stream in to much computers like to crash : \

Anyway I did this hardcore for a while, if you got questions
let me know dude !

you might need TMPEnc to make the MPEGs to put on VCDs. go
to www.dvdrhelp.com for details.
