seeing squarepusher...

ok i just dropped out of summer school so i could go see
squarepusher

i bought tickets today

now, the only problem is that the event is 19+, and i dont
have a drivers license or passport, although i am over 19

i called the Phoenix (the club where hes playing) and they
said you need "government issued photo ID", or allowing me
in would be up to "the discretion" of the security fools

i figure ill go with every piece of ID, photo and not photo,
that i have, including my birth cirtificate and health
card..... those are pretty official... birth cirtificates
are printed on that cool fabricy paper, u know what i mean

but technically they could still turn me away at the door,
in which case, theres a good chance my heart may break in
two

can anyone give me tips at all to help me maximize the
chance of getting in?

i NEED to see squarepusherrrrrrrrrr

don't bribe 'em... it's weird enough you can't show your
true age.
Just bring whatever you have, if you have some kind of proof
you went to a certain school (at a certain age), wouldn't
that help?

I have the same problem all the time. I dont own any picture
ID cause it costs about 30 quid for a passport or
provisional license. and I'm cheap

NO!

i had my birth certificate, health card, school student card
(photo), TTC (public transit) student card (photo), and
more..... but NOOOOOOOOOO

that wasn't enough for mister "Listen kid, teh liquer
inspector could show up any time, and if he sees you here
without photo ID I can get in shit. And no offence kid, but
you look 16."

"Fuck you mister!" (no i didn't really say that)

"hey, most kids have that kind of ID by the time they're
19"

"yeaaaaaaaah fuck off" (again, i didn't say this)

i scalped my ticket, made back most of the cost..... fuck,
like i even care about the money :(

AMinal: well, when is the show again? you can always apply
for an lcbo photo card - it proves that you are 19.
is your health card only have the number or does it have a
photo? b/c if it does have a photo, then you can use that.
do you have a passport? you can also use that.
depending on when the show is, you can find out how long
certain places can process your photo id - such as the
health card option. im guessing it is a lot faster than the
others (but possibly the same amount of time as the lcbo
card).
to get the health card, you have to find an office nearby
and tell them you lost your previous card or something.
they'll probably need you to show your SIN, birth cert.,
etc. all that stuff. so bring every identification, photo or
not, that you have. hope that helps.

oh shit nevermind. the show was yesterday. anyway, you can
still try out for the health photo id option for any future
shows :)

Yeah even the UK has an age proving card thingy, if this
backwater shithole does then surely the US has something
similar. Make sure this doesn't happen again!

not to rub it in or anything, but i just saw squarepusher
here in san francisco. amazing amazing show of audio and
visual assualt. it was mostly just noise and distortion, or
at least stuff i didn't or couldn't recognize. though, he
did do f-train (i think that was the one), come on my
selector, and his encore was journey into redham.

luke vibert was good, too. he started with plaistow flex
out and heard some aphex in there i think.

nearly four hours. great stuff
