I just saw the movie. It was kickass.
French movies are ofthen very sweet
and playful, and this was a masterpiece.

Also Amelie is stunning; just take a look
at Xammax avatar :)

grat flick.. i just watched l'auberge espagnole this weekend
which stars Audrey Tatou.. shes not nearly as fun to watch
in this.. the movie wasn't anything to write home about
either.. but it kinda reminded me of whet it would be like
if some xltronicers lived together.,..\

anyhow, im getting off topic. Amelie was a fantastic film

dbe comparable to a classic disney fairy tale type cartoon
for me...

the part where she walks the blind man gives me tears EVERY
TIME....

The Matrix

but... when you say "love films" I think of a regular
hollywood love/drama/comedy. This one is so much more... but
then... it's french!

I loved the bit with the garden gnome.

I loved it all - some hardcore banging would have been nice
too though.

key_secret: yeah, i agree, but isn't it still a movie about
love? in a way? i love french movies, much thanks to the
language, i think...its nice to listen to and i like it when
you dont actually understand what they say and you have to
read the subtitles...i dont know why...

great film.

please also watch Jean-Pierre Jeunet's earlier films -
"Delicatessen" (his best work, imo) and "La Citée Des
Enfants Perdus" (intrigueing visuals).

(let's forget "Alien: Resurrection" for a minute..)

it's not any good. I don't remember if it was visually
good-looking (but I don't think so),
but I do remember thinking "this is not a very good
movie"...
I wouldn't mind watching it again though, I hardly remember
it...

It's a magical movie with a magical soundtrack and
what's-her-face has magical eyes. No explosions or
spontaneous musical performances but it STILL holds my
attention... fabulous.

I watched alien 4 last nite coz i'm doing a desnign project
on Giger. It wasn't that great, and had some major plot
flaws too

It sucks watching old movies that you thought were cool at
the time and finding the storyline was actually majorly
screwed.

are so much better it makes my

is there anyone here who DIDN'T like amélie? i thought it
was shite, i tried to sleep but the sound was too loud...
one of the most boring movies i've ever seen, apart from the
bits with jamel debbouze who is really funny (the guy from
the grocery store). and that yellow colour is so annoying,
everything is obvious, no surprise, crap predictable jokes
etc. i don't get what's fantastic about this movie. i
thought it was a stupid movie.

offline yann_g from now on 2004-01-10 20:29 [#01027509]

quite the opposite. if i were an 'extrovert' i would've
quitted the cinema and gone for something else instead of
wating my time. maybe that'(s just because i'm french and
the charm didn't take effect... probly not though cause in
france everybody loved it. i thought matrix xas shite too,
though when you're stoned the fighting scenes are trippy.

i havent seen any matrix...i started watching the 1st part
but it was too boring...

about amelie (which i loved), you could have at least
enjoyed the way it was filmed and the music
tho i liked the whole thing

offline yann_g from now on 2004-01-10 20:37 [#01027517]

i really wasn't impressed by anything. jeunet doesn't film
better than spielberg. you always know what's gonna happen
and the way it's gonna happen. the only thing that surprised
me was that annoying yellow colour.

didn't like swimming pool, i don't really remember nénette
