I have been reliably informed, though I can't reveal who by, that, apparently, Phillip Glass wil be:
creating a "minimalist acid composition" just using the TB-303 & TR-808.
Well I for one am shocked. I can't wait to hear the results though.
I wonder what made him think of doing it.

it will probably sound the same as most of Glass' work does sound the same.

P.S. Doesn't Plastikman already do pretty much the same thing? And he has been doing it for ages now.

This sounds mint, it may be true- Phillip Glass' compositions are loosely related to minimal electronica in style, perhaps he has just had enough of traditional instruments?
I reckon it'll be a more melodic version of the sort of thing that Richie Hawtin does...

the new movie "Naqoyatsi" is also out now. its part 3 of a trilogy of documentations on artistic meltdown of music and pictures.
this parts theme is the destruction of nature by technology and the source of the urge of mankind to make war.
music (all parts) is by phillip glass.
(from a local newspaper)
anybody seen one of those?

I assumed, as it wasn't mentioned otherwise, that it'll be raw form. Probably a "natural" acid sound :D
I'll probe my source and see what they say. It's quite rare that they give me any info though.

im also a fan of philip glass particularly the somewhat insane "music in twelve parts" which rarely changes in its 3.5 hours albeit small subtle changes, surely his best work?
and steve reichs early work, including 'come out' and 'its gonna rain' using tapes loops can only best be described as essential listening for anybody who takes music seriously.
i can also recommend 'la monte young', a rather more bizarre minimalist composer who's compositions do not exist in recorded format but who's performances include swinging a microphone over a burning fire, and another where he just sits there, turns the microphone on the audience, then when nothing happens for an hour to tell them that the noises they have made in the time he allowed were in fact the composition!

that la monte young audience composition sounds like a John Cage ripoff to me.
4'33
cage sat a piano and played nothing. He said it was all the sounds that where happening, from all around, was the music.

fair point but i think the difference in cage's work is that cage is more of an abstract artist who's work tends towards the performance rather than sound. la monte young seems more focused on genuine sound.
