Bonus high frequencies DECODED!!!!

Måns Thörnqvist in Sweden did it this weekend, read all
about it:

http://barbarisk.barbanet.com/sidor.php?anrop diverse

(for those of you that are not that familiar with swedish -
anyone? ;) - though Ophecks was very funny in pretending -
the noises on "Bonus high frequency sounds" is a picuture
and some words about the remixes and Richard thanx
someone... haven?t seen it myself , it won?t be on the page
til later tonight...)

Great job MÃ¥ns!

try this link instead, the first one doesn?t work...

http://barbarisk.barbanet.com/

then click on "diverse" to the left...

Actually, for Non-swedish visitors, i would recommend this
link:

http://manse.myftp.org/index.php?start=at

It will get you to the solution, and a view of the image.
Perhaps I will make an english version later.

Avart, i like the other dont have a fuckin clue what you're
talking about.. .... PLEASE translate the article if you
can!

Ok, sorry for the page being in Swedish, I didn't anticipate
such wordwide response. I have now translated the page, so
you can all read about it. Use this link:

http://manse.myftp.org/index.php?start=at

And yes, all that is contained within the 2 minute long
track is that image. It was originally 32-bit, but i made it
8-bit to fit in a GIF. The resolution is however unchanged,
it cannot be improved.

woooow.. I never would have suspected that track to be a
message of any kind.. very clever.. how does one go about
turning an image into sound

I'd like to know what program was used, until I do, I find
this all a little hard to beleive.

Ok, I didn't name the program because the author might
dissaprove. The program i named "Tim's Win-SSTV 0.36"

Hope that helps.

No, I know, it's difficult. I now added so you can download
the BMP file, it is slightly better, but still difficult to
read. Could anyone supply me with an uncompressed copy of
the track, I could probably make the image slightly better.

/M

ps. A typo in my previous mess, the program _is_ named Tim's
Win-SSTV.

for the vocal snatch and the programs are alpha/numerical
jumbles
and the pic is of rdj & tj

What I think AFX basically is trying to say in the "Software
list" in the gif picture is what AE said on a 12" several
years ago:

"Fuck of trainspotters"

Wouldn?t that be the Richard we all have become familiar
with through various other "jokes"? :D

(from URB Issue #42:
"It's clear that they'd rather have it drop off the planet
than have it sell at an overpriced rate to completists. In
fact, a recent 12-inch single bears the greeting "Fuck Off
Trainspotters" etched into the inner grooves, so there's no
doubt as to what they think of such collectors." )

fuck off trainspotters? what does that mean?

offline avart from nomo' on 2003-07-06 18:43 [#00768889]
Points: 1764 Status: Lurker

the easy and short explanation:

"Get yourself a life"

"Trainspotting" is another rather nerdy hobby, where you
write down everything about a observed train?s
departure-times and stuff like that... It?s a quite bizarre
form of activity (but which activity isn?t, when you get
specialized about anything?) I?ve heard there are some
trainspotters in england, maybe someone in the UK can
explain this better to the american? ;)

"Trainspotter" is the male form of "groupie", maybe ?

hope this made some sense....

for those wondering,
sstv is 'slow scan tv'
basically a method for ham radio and other amature operators
to send images via radio. an image is modulated to audio by
and transmitted over radio, then decoded the other end....by
the looks of it the image this guy found may just be some
ham operators own image...alot of the ones you see people
sending look something like that. n31jly is probably
somones callsign.

Yeah. "MultiMode" appears to be a SSTV prog for the Mac. And
it seems that N3JLY is some sort of user "handle" in the
murky underworld of RF pic "TX". Seems a little nerdy and
no-girlfriendy to me. A bit like Dungeons and Dragons is.
