I think the disabled olympics are a little unfair in some respects... frequently you see a person with a minor disability absolutely thrash someone who is totally crippled. An example would be that famous female swimmer- her only disability is that she is missing one hand. Not an arm- a hand. It was hardly suprising to see her beating a woman who was paralysed from the waist down...
Wheelchair events are a bit different, though.

But the special olympics are not for winning...they are for the joy of sporting...winning is quite secondary..
But I can see your point of view...

...unless you took an ice pick to the spine of every competitor. I'm wondering if being blinbd counts. I was practicing swimming with my eyes closed this weekend. Suprising how much less scary it is than running with your eyes closed.

it is a pretty uneven event when you see like a blind guy and a guy with no legs in the shooting contest- especially if the wheelchair guy cheats by shooting the blind guy in the legs to make himself feel better. only kiddin but it really had someone with cystic fibrosis running against a guy with no legs: no contest really.
i find it strange that there is a gay olympics, especially as race-walking is in the normal olympics too...
