No you are a conceited, elitist, aloof peice of shit who
gets pissed off whenever someone doesn't bow down in front
of you and act as though you are some sort of musical
intellectual and genius.

Me :P

I have finished now :D

I didn't expect it to take off the way it did, my original
comment wasn't even aimed at Zeus, but at the people who
actually produced this 'music' in the first place.

Oh and your avatar has just made me shit myself :D

The idea of inaudible sounds made audible is intriguing, and
translated into 'music', would be interesting.

The sound of an anthill is cool conceptually and surely much
could be done with it literally, metaphorically and
analogically.

In a way, it is a further development of the Richard
Bangs Scrap For His Own Unique Sounds approach to music
making.

I?ve been listening to Lowercase music for three years now,
I like it?s calm approach.

But like all sorts of art, sometimes it can be a bit like
"the emperors new clothes". ecnadniarb has a point. Silence
is SILENCE, it?s quite ridiculus buying a record of 30
minutes of silence just because Francisco Lopez made it...

hey Zeus, how about fuck you, cos new scientist did articles
about using classical music to harmonise the brain waves of
eppileptics whose condition is caused by multiple brainwaves
conflicting and causing seizures.

your brainwaves can be played as sound, and they can be
tuned with concentration (look at the x-box controlled with
scalp electrodes) and even if they couldn't the oscilations
"lowercase-menstruation-dripping-on-a-horseshoe-then-amplif
from your brain would probably sound a lot better than your
ied-and-sold-to-dickheads-like-you" music. audio textures
can be interesting but its probably just a bandwagon that
the pretentious follow...so stick it where the sun don't
shine and record the sound of you doing so as a lowercase
sodomization...

ok. first off... calm down. the name calling is
unnessasary.
secondly, critcizing my music will not hurt my feelings, it
will just make you look like an ass.
3rdly, I think we are thinking different things here..

when you say, converting your brainwaves into pitch... you
are wrong. you cant make your brain do pitches. just by the
nature of brainwaves.

however, you are right, in a sense... that you can control
music with it.

literally taking brain waves and converting it to pitch will
not give you the results you are looking for.

however, you can use brain waves to control midi events.
scientists found that there are several different brain wave
patterns the human brain produces, under certain situations.
so, what they do, is they assign certain brainwave activity
to certain event paramaters, ie notes, or volume etc.

it isnt the brainwaves literally being turned into music...
its assinging brainwave activity to different functions in a
machine.

so if you concentrate on a mood, that will get your
brainwaves in a certain state... you can be telling the
computor different commands.

but just thinking of notes, and having your brain waves make
those oscilations... it doest work like that.

as far as audio textures being something pretentious people
follow... uh... hello? this is an IDM message board...
electronic music is ALL ABOUT textures and sound
qaulities.... so I dont know what you are talking about
there...

please, if you respond to this, try and be alittle more
tactful.

well, to refer to my initial post as "bullshit" is not a
wholly objective response is it? and not too tactful either

if the actual electrical signals across the surface of the
brain have their signals multiplied to create an audiable
pitch it resembles music: test subjects were played motzart
over a period of a few weeks and their brainwaves were found
to take on the characteristics of the pieces they had
listened to.

also if someone is asked to remember a song in their head
the electrical signals in certain parts of the brain closely
resemble the actual soundwaves of the recording when shown
on an oscilliscope. both midi events and soundwaves can be
produce by the potential difference across the surface of
the brain, and even if it didn't it would still be more
interesting than the noise of an ant colony because it is
simply an amplified field recording

i will happilly listen to musique concrete because the
structuring of real world sounds appeals to me but
"lowercase" is not strictly music because music by
deffiniton is structured. i did not say textures are a
purely pretentious persuit but in many cases they are
popularised for a need to look superior rather than any true
stimulation

well fine, you may think i look like an ass but it is my
choice not to buy cds of noise for those whose objective
taste is far outstripped by their desperation to belong to
an elitist few so i guess i am an ass with some cash and no
inferiority complex

oh yeah, if sachiko m was the person i saw running
white+brown noise and sinewaves through a mixer at the
notting hill arts club, then this genre is seriously lacking

as far as what you said about the brainwaves goes... its
news to me. from my reading, ive never come across anything
about that... and in fact, it was said to be impossible.

if its true, then id like a link to the article, as it would
be a great, and educating read.

maybe in your opinion, amplifing sounds we cant hear isnt as
interesting.. but in my opinion it is. percieving sounds
that we cant normally percieve.

as for your definition of music, i must completely disagree.
there is no such thing as unstructred music. the fact that
there is sound, and that it was intended, implies structure.
not of a conventional sense... but if someone deliberately
makes something a certain way, (even if its deliberitly
random) its still structured. even having 3 seconds of
sound, followed by 50 seconds of silence... and then another
1 second sound... is structured.

about the textures being popularised for a need to look
superior, and not any true stimulation... i just disagree.
how can you say what stimulates people?

and as for your judgements of me... you dont know me. To say
that i am desperate to be a part of an elitist few, to fend
off an inferiority complex... you have no place saying that.
based on several conversations on the net... you cannot
judge me. And the fact that you would so quickly label
someone as such, for listening to a certain type of music,
shows how narrow minded you are
