this is such a mindblowing album. it always keeps getting better and better for me, and now to the point that it's become my favourite RDJ album (excluding come to daddy, it's sort of a mini-album/ep). At first listen i loved the more accessible songs like girl/boy song, goon gumpas, fingerbib and logon rock witch. But over time i've grown to love the rest of the album just as much. the music always sounds fresh when i put the cd on, it never gets boring. that's what truly amazing music achives, to stay timeless
anyway...what i wanted to ask is, what was your first reaction to the RDJ album and how has it grown on you, what do you feel about it now compared to when you first experienced it?

i just got it actually... the first time i listened, it was ok, but a little disappointing... i had previously heard girl boy song and liked that... but nothing else really stood out. i've listened to it a few times since and it has actually gotten better each time... can't really put my finger on how or why. 4 is one of my favorite tracks from it... i remember that cuz its the first... the rest i haven't become familiar enough with yet

but i agree, the album is 300% AFX full throttle all the way...baby :)

when I first listened to this, (after drukqs, saw I, saw II, I care because you do and come to daddy) I was still really amazed... and imediately it passed to be my fav aphex release... but with time... though I still love it and still think its genious (maybe the most geniousish) I see that my taste prefers drukqs, or the older stuff (abb3, caustic, saw....)
anyway is great to listen to it

..needless to say it took a while to grow on me.

I quote nacmat talking about drukqs this january:
"Drukqs will not go down as the greatest way to end a looooooooong career(the man's been doing this for ages, early eighties) but ultimately stands as one man's final atempt to cash in before fading away..."
"...This is just junk. What a waste of time and talent"

i love rdj, including Girl/boy ep... it's twice the amount funnyfunmcorgasmygoodnesswithacusswordthrownonforgoodmeasur of efuck
truly is incredibly sweet... it's the kind of album, where i'll get high, start at track one and say "this is one of my favourite songs on the album", proceed to track 2, say "this is one of my favourite songs on the album (then i`ll accidentally mess up one of the buttons on the keyboard somehow, rendering my quotes never-ending...), then i`ll hit the third song and say `this is one of my favourite tracks on the album` and i will continue on this way until the very end...

I actually think it was where he started to become a bit cohesive, Like every song is pretty much perfect, that's not to take away from the early stuff but i thought he used everything he'd learnt and put it into this album.
Everything he's done since then has become more cohesive as well.
But i fear the smojphace thing might be like a step back, i'll save my judgement until i've heard it though!

i see the RDJ album as afx as a child cause its playful Teasing humorous mischievous
drukqs as an old crazy man be-cause its so Insane psychotic
ICBYD as a 40 yearold racing driver cause its so Gripping mesmerizing transfixing Absorbing spellbinding riveting enthralling fascinating
come to daddy as a punk teenager cause its soo Menacing intimidating threatening
windowlicker as a super pimp cause its so Slick Smooth polished
ABB4 as a Stampede or mad zoo because of the songs soundings and names i.e. gibbon, cuckoo
what else?

well ok then, Bocuma reminds me of one of those huge communist parades where soldiers are marching in file order in front of Stalin, but instead of soldiers they are replaced my thousands of elks and instead of showing off nuclear missiles and weaponry on the back of tanks they are parading huge red strawberry ice poles, and Stalin is up high watching from the balcony of the Kremlin playing a trumpet which is producing this beautiful sound. Uuumm….The sky is an underwater green and its raining mush mellows....i could go on
