Meho needs you

OK, here's how it is: I was commissioned to do an email
interview with Mike Paradinas. That pretty much explains the
dramatic lack of competent music journalists in this
country... OK, so I was meaning to ask you, guys and gals:
what is it that you would ask Mike P. if you had a chance.

Mind you, i will probably ignore most of your suggestions ,
but let that not stop you from going wild.

I wanted to add something along the lines of "no childish
fanboy questions, no smartass humour", but I know that would
only encourage you to give me your worst, hehehe, so...

In my absence, Jonesy will oversee this thread and I will
come in later today to check it.

Thanks, boyos and girlos.

you could ask if he plans on ever making a collaboration cd
again, like expert knob twiddlers
and if so, with whom, rdj or someone else..

at the moment.....

What brought on the fascination to granular synthesis? there
was a big jump be two of his albums/ep's much like Aphex
Twin when he statred to make the HAB series.

You could ask him if he paid the artists royalties who were
sampled for the Planet Mu Allstars stuff. Bearing in mind
his objections to filesharing.

He he, I think his view on file sharing is pretty apparent
judging by his ourtrage at Bilious Paths being leaked ;)

Jonesy, damn good question!

Giginger: I imagine as it's not a face to face interview,
the result would be the same- he could think of answers for
hours if he wanted to. Also, he won't know which ones Meho
will pick :)

My Q's:

The new album, particularly the track Meinheld, sounds as
though there is a lot of influence by squarepusher. The
aformentioned track even sounds like it contains a vocal
sample from one of the pusher tracks... are you a fan of his
work and has it influenced you at all?

With regard to file sharing, don't you agree it can
sometimes be beneficial? I personally am not prepared to buy
an album by an artist I only a moderate fan of unless I've
heard at least some of it beforehand and enjoyed. A friend
sent me an MP3 (after the release date) of one of the
tracks and that was enough to convince me to buy it. I must
be honest, had he not done so I probably would of passed it
up...

You mentioned this being the last release under the m-ziq
name, is that still the plan?

How did R&S records hear of you back in the early days (I
notice you're on a couple of the "In order to Dance"
compilations)?

Does hardware have a future other than as a "hands on"
controller device fro software?

Are there any albums/tracks you've regretted putting out?
Not neccesarily because they're bad, but perhaps because
they were very personal to you and that has been diluted by
them having been released...

Any plans for a "Best of" album? ;)

my question

since he's really good at finding new artists, i'd ask him
if there's a new artist in sight...

He signed someone from here a few months ago. Not heard if

can...

you could ask mike: "do you think modernity is
disenchanted?" hehe .. maybe "What is your favourite label
(besides planet-µ)?" will yield a more straight forward
answer.

anyway .. how are things? .. hope you're keeping well.

hi meho! good to see you back, if only you would post more!
some questions off the top of the dome:

1) what interests you about hip-hop? any favorite groups or
emcees? the gang starr samples were a nice touch on 'royal
astronomy' but isn't it funny how this and autechre's dj
premier sampling on one of their first albums seem to go
over so many of the closeminded electronica fans' heads?
you'd think they'd concede that MAYBE hip-hop can be pretty
damn good if autechre and mu-ziq are paying homage to one of
the most respected groups in the genre.

2) any unreleased tracks from the mike & rich session
besides "brivert and muons"? what're the chances you'll
encode a higher quality mp3 of that?

3) why do so many planet mu releases go out of print just as
people are catching on? do you know how hard a time i've had
getting planet mu albums, even ordering online?

4) tell us more about the next planet mu comp, 'children of
mu'. who'll be on it? what's the theme?

5) do you agree with what many reviews are saying, that your
latest album is your finest work to date? what went into
your decision to wait 3 1/2 years between mu-ziq releases?

my questions

1. would he ever consider releasing a full album in the rude
ass tinker guise? i.e deathchant style

2.when will we see a full length bit meddler release on µ?
or will it be on another label

3.would he ever do a collabration with tipper?

Just saw Public Enemy last night, I now that'll make you

niggles I have about the gig..

Oh, BTW, I have Mike P.'s email addy, (one of at least), was
given it by the editor of the mag I'm supposed to do the
interview for. For obvious reasons, I am not allowed to
share it.
