i downloaded and taped some movies by directors from which i've seen and liked some of their other movies
do you have opinions on these and maybe can you tell me if they're worth watching or not? (which ones should i def. see? i don't have much time to watch'em all these days)
- Dr. Strangelove or: how i learned to stop worrying and love the bomb
- Rear Window - Mulholland Drive - Lost Highway - The Acid House
tell me :)

Mulholland Drive and Lost Highway are great. Sneaked in the Eindhoven Tech University when they did their 'Lynch cycle'....

the acid house is nasty - very uncomfortable viewing. which is deliberate.

-dr. strangelove is one of my top 5 movies -mulholland is beautiful film, and pretty weird so you'll probably have to see it twice to figure it out
-lost highway is a nice one as well

Man, I love Rear Window...the hot summer atmosphere and the clinking pianos and neighbours going about their business - you must see that movie someday.
If you want a good alternative to the Strangelove movie - not at all the same kind of movie but it's about nuclear annihilation and it's quite good. An underrated 80's movie called "Miracle Mile" (found it with eMule)

just saw Dr. Strangelove and i love it!
Group Capt. Lionel Mandrake: Colonel... that Coca-Cola machine. I want you to shoot the lock off it. There may be some change in there.
Colonel "Bat" Guano: That's private property. Group Capt. Lionel Mandrake: Colonel! Can you possibly imagine what is going to happen to you, your frame, outlook, way of life, and everything, when they learn that you have obstructed a telephone call to the President of the United States? Can you imagine?! Shoot it off! Shoot! With a gun! That's what the bullets are for, you twit!!
Colonel "Bat" Guano: Okay. I'm gonna get your money for ya. But if you don't get the President of the United States on that phone, you know what's gonna happen to you?
Group Capt. Lionel Mandrake: What?! Colonel "Bat" Guano: You're gonna have to answer to the Coca-Cola Company.
---
President Merkin Muffley:You can't fight in here, this is the War Room!
:) loved it :)

yeh dr strangelove is hillarious.
i watched rear window for the first time a couple weeks ago. unfortunately, i was not as impressed as i expected to be. while i found the premise/theme of voyeurism to be intriguing, i just lost interest in the movie after about 40 minutes. I guess i've never been a jimmy stewart fan anyway but i just found his performance to be a little stale.
I might give this movie another try later as i know it is highly regarded as one of the all time great movies, but eh.. just didn't do it for me. The Birds, also, was dissapointing to me. but for totally different reasons. guess i'm just not a huge hitchcock fan. still need to see, north by northwest, vertigo, and a couple others though..
