Barca Becks bid accepted
Date: Tuesday, 10th June 2003 - 14:51 GMT
Category: David Beckham News
Posted By: Mark Bain

Manchester United have released the following statement
regarding David Beckham and Barcelona:

'Manchester United confirms that club officials have met
Joan Laporta, the leading candidate for the Presidency of
Barcelona. These meetings have resulted in an offer being
made for the transfer of David Beckham to Barcelona.

'This offer is subject to a number of conditions and
critically to both Mr Laporta being elected President on
Sunday 15 June and Barcelona subsequently reaching agreement
with David Beckham on his personal contract.

'Manchester United confirms that in the event that all of
the conditions are fulfilled then the offer would be
acceptable."

It remains to be seen whether Laporta wins the election and
whether Beckham would agree to the move as Barcelona will
not be in the Champions League next season

beckham won't go to barca because laporta wont win the
election. only 17% of supporters want beckham , and last i
saw laporta was 20% behind his rival in the polls.

besides , united seem desperate to offload becks now ,
perhaps they know something we don't ? like ... he's past
his best ? Model-looks don't last forever either :)

I thought it was mcmanaman to man city phiz ? he's mates
with fowler , and keegan likes him too , + they need a few
big signings for the new stadium.

i hear rivaldo is keen to join leicester city. he can keep
our bench warm if he likes heh ;)

If Beckham would leave man U, he really should go to real
madrid imo.
I hope he stays at Man U though.
I'm glad to see that Barca is finally getting a decent
goalkeeper. Now Man U needs a new goalie too, last
semi-final against real madrid the goals for madrid came
really much to simple and cheap.
Barthez maybe a nice guy but he sucks at goalkeeping, maybe
he should try the circus instead.
I read Andy van der meijde is opted by inter milan, I hope
he stays one more year at ajax though.
I hope Cocu will go back to PSV, as they really need an
experienced allround player like him in the squad.

I hope Milan can get Stam. Is Maldini retiring now, or what?
I'm not sure about Backham though. I don't think he is good
enough for Milan or Real. He could be valuable to Barca
maybe.

it seems who Laporta deny to promise beckham.

juve: confirm for trezeguet and davids really near... they
should stay in Turin.

PERUGIA: Incredible!!! Gheddafi' soon will play in Perugia
next year. I hope he will not use weapons on the field...

11 starts dont make a good team... it helps though

offline tolstoyed from the ocean on 2003-06-18 16:20 [#00746624]
Points: 50073 Status: Moderator

well, i think they were working great as a team so
far...beckham seems like a team kind of player as well - so
i think there will be no problem

but yeah, 11 stars doesnt necessarly mean they will be a
wining team

they need someone to replace hierro now, helguera could do
it...but i think they would need someone a bit better than
pavon in the back
so good defender-nesta or canavarro comes to mind :)

offline WooferAttack from Milano (Italy) on 2003-06-19 01:10 [#00747209]

another great star as backham to real... they seem really
impressives.
anyway it's possible that figo will leave from madrid in the
next season... milan and inter are ready to receive him.

real madrid should buy some defensor, 'cos their problem
wasn't midfields or strikers... the problem is the defence.
florentino peres should know that.

offline tolstoyed from the ocean on 2003-06-19 01:40 [#00747232]
Points: 50073 Status: Moderator

yeah, but peres also knows that this big stars are the ones
that attract spectators and sponsors...but i agree they need
a quality defender!
if i may, i propose nesta or canavarro :)
(perhaps both and helguera can play in the midfield then)

QUESTION: Who will shoot free kicks next year?

1) Figo
2) Raul
3) Zidane
4) Ronaldo
5) Beckham
6) Roberto Carlos

???????

offline tolstoyed from the ocean on 2003-06-19 02:01 [#00747246]

i think carlos and beckham will do that...sometimes figo and
perhaps sometimes even zidane, hehe but that is a mighty
lineup for freekicking :)

juventus bought a joung and good italian defensor from
Chievo, his name is Legrottaglie.

really near (last details) also for the chilean midfield
Pizarro from Udinese.

Juve want to close with Jaap Stam in few days... we'll see.

shame for del bosque, i really liked him...he seemed like

hierro's time has come tho...he was a great player, but the
