...there's just nothing you can listen to after this
(Nirvana - Unplugged in N.Y.), when it's over and when
you've been in the melancholic mood to listen to it. some
records are like that, they leave you speechless and there's
nothing you can listen to afterwards. 'Damnation' by Opeth
is also one of those, with Weakness. and 'Up' by Peter
Gabriel, with The Drop. there are others i don't know.

i'm going to feel the night, the cold and the loneliness
with those memories tonight...
another little beautiful and sad moment...

*nighty night*

I feel the same - who would have ever thought that an
"Unplugged" record would become such a classic. Leaves me
spent.

It's a brilliant performance, very 'real' whatever that
means..

i swear that was on television again a while back. wish i
could've seen it again. it's been a few years. funny, too,
though...because i don't even like nirvana that much.
*shrugs* i dunno. just a "classic" as thethirdball has so
aptly put it.

beautiful performance; unplugged is my favorite thing
nirvana ever did.

also, if you like this song, download the original by
Leadbelly. it's fantastic!

the original is actually called in the pines, but it's
credited as where did you sleep last night on the unplugged
disc

I'll be the Nirvana authority around here, if that's okay.

Yes, it's great. But really there is one performance of the
song that even out does the unplugged version. But that's
another story.

My favorite songs on Unplugged are Oh Me, Lake of Fire, Come
As You Are, and WDYSLN, but the whole set is good. As well
as the mood.

Like the Beatles, I think Nirvana did more harm than good.

I think all those Meat Puppets soungs were best in their
original recordigins... back on Meat Puppets II in '83 or
some shit and the dude just kind of shrills and portamentos
around the notes he actually wants to hit backed by an
acoustic guitar and a broken sounding drumset.... if you've
ever heard what I;m talking about you;d be wondering where
that hit they had ever came from....
Meat Puppets?
you know>??

Lake Of Fire is one of my favorites, too... and Pennyroyal
Tea, and Plateau. and Dumb.

thanks virginpusher! ' _ '

I like Nirvana well and truly "Plugged" but theres no doubt
unplugged is great. Dumb is a real good song. There's a good
Peel session version of that (i think its from a peel sesh
anyway)

There does exist a peel session version of Dumb.

Nirvana was a great band. How stupid it may sound, but they
changed lives of loads of youngsters. There was no better
way to rebel to your parents than listening to Nirvana and
the likes. Also their mentallity: we just do whatever we
want. That was cool and not done before on that large scale.
The music was simple (I mean, every one who has touched a
guitar can play smells like teen spirit), but raw and true.
They did what they wanted on their records.

And the greatest thing of all is that hard songs as
pennyroyal tea and even About a girl (from Bleach, that
album is underrated) turn out great in the unplugged
session.
