Yet it seems that people from a certain class seem to
acquier the same musical preferences. How is that?

okay but what about people who listen to all sorts of
genres?
I listen to Classical, Jazz, Blues, Rock, "IDM", 80's,
pretty much anything as long as I like it! Does that mean I
come from every class?

OK, a poll then. What does your parents do? What level of
education do you have? Do you consider yourself to be 1.
working class 2. middle class 3. upper class?

ISA, but frankly the returns take the piss. Tax free my
arse.

Someone I know put their full student loan into an ISA and
the returns from the ISA (supposedly tax free) are less than
the interest on their student loan charges (which are meant
to be as close to interest free as you can get)...
Takes the piss really, if you can make more money as a
supposed "non profit company" than an account made by the
govt. to encourage saving.

They wonder why there is overspend and the economy is up the
creek :(

I'm investing in some stocks for this medical company called
'Diamyd Med', they're working on a vaccin for diabetes...
sounds really promissing!

doesn't that hinge to much on FDA approval or the equivolent
in Sweden?

I mean, they can spend all this money on R & D, and then,
without approval, that's it........

I obviously don't know what you know, but I stay away from
pharmecuticals for that reason.

at least you are investing and putting your money where your
mouth is, I hope that stock does well.

Even if you would poll everyone here as to what their
background is, you wouldn't get an accurate result because
this board is on the internet. That by itself would bias the
results quite a lot, and the results would be of people who
listen to idm AND visit the xltronic message board
regularly.

Oh, and to answer this threads original question: I invest
in computer security stocks.

I've often thought it strange that people invest in the
company they work in. Fair enough if it is small, your
productivity may result in good returns, but in most middle
to large companies you'd make a negligible difference. Also,
if your company goes belly up, you not only lose your job,
but your investment is worthless :/

like I said then, the drug in development will be subject to
FDA approval.

it is kind of the end all. If it gets approval, hooray, if
not, then they are saddled with a huge R&D bill and no
product.

I don't like my money riding on such a whim, but again, I
don't know anything about the company noted.

at the UW i get pretty good benifits in their UW retirement
program. i can pay in 15 percent then they match my
contribution 100%. this is then invested in a few 401k
style investments that i can customize. so far, even with
the shit econmy i have been making money.

before that the best investing i did was in pokemon cards.
invested about $1500 in 1st ed. cards when they first came
out. sold them within a year to more than double my initial
investment.

i think it's smart to have your $$ work for you, and if
you're savvy you can make a lil bit and get out before the
bottom drops out.

that said i invest in mostly equity bonds.....they are
riskier than normal investiments, but when you're young you
can usually afford to be more risky with investiments than
when you're older.

i also invest in the company i work for, which is going
strong and is considered one of the best buys in the
industry.....i think money voted it one of the TOP 30 stocks
ever!

for example.....had i invested 10 grand in 1972.......i'd
have 10 million or more RIGHT now.....ehehhe.....NOT a bad
return eh.....

nice to see others are thinking of their future!

I just invested a couple hundred shares into your Low Cost
Competition, AirTran.

hehe, I hope some of you kids keep your eyes open.
Especially as the economy stabalizes and slowly recovers.
Seems like a great time to invest in stable companies.

Well I changed my mind from my earlier post.

I'm investing in a larger penis. I feel that 13" is far too
small to pleasure a woman.
I'm going for 18" length and 8" girth. I feel that should be
enough.

ok, well I really tried to support individual private
investment in a market I think is poised to grow.

I backed it up today with another large (for me) investment
into a growing company.

I hope you guys put your money to work for you, my portfolio
is up 110% or so over a year, and that is the money I worked
hard to earn, now working hard for me.

this mornings investment in AirTran, is a regional airline
out of Atlanta here in the states.

It's a LCC (low cost carrier) much like Ryanair, or easyJet
is around your parts.

Good growth, professional but fun culture, and profits.
Much like Southwest pioneered decades ago.

I'm also invested, as I mentioned earlier, in future fuels,
which has netted me a 100 odd % growth in price.

I don't like risk, but sometimes I get a gut feeling, follow
it up, and do it. I think the time is right for getting
back into more risky stocks as the market trends upward.

I have been told to not worry about the future sooo many
times recently, you are starting to reverse my mental
conditioning with all this talk of investment in the
future............

I am tempted though. I do a bit of trading on e-bay etc
which I enjoy & have made a nice profit by selling the
bargains I have found for sale in the local paper, other
trading sites etc........ After all, e-bay is a stock market
& I understand enough to make it work in my favour. I'm
thinking maybe I'll move up to the dizzy hights of the stock
market but I'm gonna have a go at cracking e-bay
first..........Well, You gotta start somewhere...... right!
