whoa. this is weird... i was just browsing this thread,
and suddenly a pop-up appears about some stupid survey shit
whatever.....i had NO other windows open....running no other
applications....

has anyone else ever ran into such an odd event???...

sometimes that isnt needed.. atleast for me.. Im sometimes
opening my folders up w/out a browser open.. and bam im
attacked with pop-ups.. im telling you just download Opera,
it puts the popups in the background like a window tab

Hmm, well let's see. Either you can have the pop ups still
occurring, they're just in the background, or you could have
no pop ups at all.

Just get ad aware. (it's free)

If that doesn't do it, download mozilla, it has pop up
suppression. Pop ups don't even open as other tabs. Opera is
cool too, don't know if it has pop up suppression too.

I get these random popups that are like alert windows. Even
the Mighty Ad-Aware can't get rid of these fuckers. It's
pissing me off!
