are you patriotic towards your country? Do you get hard
when you heard you national anthem? Do you start to cry when
you think of your fine nation?

Not at all.

I love my countries landscape... but that's about it.
Oh I love our mounties... and I really like all the national
parks reservations and stuff. There's a lot of strick laws
in wildlife parks and stuff. It's awesome.

Other then that... im not "proud" to be Canadian.. Im proud
when I do good on aan exam.. or reach a goal or something.
Not of my nationality. I think that's ridiculous.

When there's something special going on I would of course
support my own country but normally I don't give a fuck.

Nice scenery in Wales and the people are the friendliest
I've met. I don't like my country politics wise (talking
about the UK in general), too many bleeding heart liberals.
I'd rather live under a totalitarian regime where you got
rewarded more for your work.

'of course'? please eXpound. Why specifically would you
support this country? Out of loyalty because that's where
your mother happened to spread her legs and fart you out? Or
because you love your country? That's why I started this
thread... to find out WHY people are either
patriotic/non-patriotic.

In no way proud to be belgian or so. I don' t give a damn
about regional pride.
If I would be born 20 miles from where I was born I would be
patriotic to some other country, don't see the use.

when I am in spain I care a shit about my country and my
flag... I just dont care... I was born here but could have
been anywhere else... I would never fight for my country.

but strangely when I am overseas... I tend to feel proud of
being spanish (which I think is a stupid feeling)

not at all.

i like living in england, i love some aspects of the culture
and the scenary can be wonderful. but i hate the
government that run this country. i hate the
americanisation of this country. and i hate the fact that
english/british people are despised the world over because
of what they have done in the past to other nations. i am
ashamed to be english when i am abroad.

I was saying to my parents when I went home to Wales at the

people I meet in Bristol..."

no... i see no reason at all to be proud of my country (it
is france if you want to know), since i haven't chosen it
and i don't do much for it anyway! : )

but
with all that anti-french feeling spread among americans,
i'm starting to like it... maybe weirdly, because we're
hated i like it... ^^

though i don't like the government at all - and they even
made a stupid anti-freedom law which makes the fact of
disgrading, or making fun of, the french flag or hymn, a
crime... now that's a fascist-like law.

that sucks.
(and i don't like the hymn either.)

i've just got back from vietnam

one girl i met had had her head smashed against a wall the
previous night by ...an englishman.

another girl i was talking with was grabbed and pushed
against the pool table and groped by a drunk... Englishman,
whilst i was there .

The most annoying bastard i met on my 2 months of travels
was the guy behind me who said "excuse me , but what queue
are you ACTUALLY in ?" as he attempted to speed up his
entirely inconsequential existence another notch for the
benefit of absolutely no-one in the place he was attempting
to rush ...to. that was at... st pancras station, london.

yes, england is a land of dull drudgery, little happiness or
joy, very little sociability or solidarity, where men act
like children in order to take holiday from themselves.

i'm not unhappy to say i'm from england, but i am annoyed at
actually being here sometimes. i do love football though,
britains finest export. along with the colonialism and
slavery, that is.

I don't know; snotty arrogance, idiocy, fantastic resource
wastage through beauracracy, racism (I know people say the
Welsh take the piss out of the English, but in reality it
happens far more the other way around...), oh and they
elected 14 bnp councillors as well as a slew of labour
ones... *claps in slow mocking fashion*

Even the great anglo saxxon decency of days gone by is on
the decline.

Being patriotic is not something I think of really. I'm
English born, but live in Wales....and when we go to the ice
hockey, they play the welsh national anthem..but I guess it
would just be rude to not stand up with everyone else.

marlowe > i also wear glasses, and i'm not proud of it at
all (i don't like wearing glasses either), but if you attack
people who wear glasses i'll sure feel attacked, try to
strike back and claim the right to wear glasses - just
because i wouldn't want to give you right to attack people
who wears glasses!

same thing with french people. i don't like france
especially, but i don't like people attacking it either : )

I think there's always a certain underlying feeling of pride
for your own country....I was referring to for example a
football match. You can disagree with the politics of a
country but you'll probably support your natrional football
team, won't you?

your compatriats then its a bit lame really.

i get even more ashamed of my country when the nobhead

i bet theres no trouble from the scots tonight in spain

Thats a good way of putting it.....I don't really show a
great interest in the politics of this country in the
slightest.

Are there any of you who are that patriotic, that (like a
few months back) would be prepared to fight for your

yeah, patriotism isnt something i think about... im not
proud of america in its current form, no... but i am very
proud of some of the things this country has accomplished as
a whole. if you step back and really give it a
discriminating look over... there are alot of great things
to come out of this country... for every right there is a
wrong, its true... i can't help feeling some pride when i
look back in time at some things people did just so i could
be here and have the kinda of conveniences i do... i dont
think many people nowadays care about the future, so yeah...
im proud of that aspect of things.

i hate the British National anthem. I'm Scottish but I don`t
feel part of Britain. But the Scottish National anthem is a
complete dirge aswell. I like the French one, thats quite a
rousing tune. And the German anthem has some funky vibes
goin on

Im a bit patriotic yeah , especialy around world cups.
And to my surprice i often find myself glorifying and
defending my country HERE , i really should chill a bit
hehe.
I have trouble seeing myself living in another country.

Of course theres alot of things i hate about sweden too ,
especialy the right wing politics and americanisation that
is infecting our society lately. Some things are starting to
go down the toilet and in 20 years i will be saying "I told
you so!"

But still....

Go sweden!
