I disregarded steel string and classical guitarists such as
Michael Hedges and Adres Segovia, otherwise this list would
be different.

are not as wellknown enough to be recognised.

I'm pleasantly surprised that David Gilmour is getting lots
of mentions. Man has an incredible sense of phrasing - his
solos are perfect little compositions. And his accompaniment
/ rhythm style is unique.

David Gilmour is maybe my favorite guitarist... in my mind
Joe Satriani is the best, but I think it's an unfair
comparison there... Joe Satriani has made a career of simply
trying to impress with his skill as he is a solo guitar guy,
whereas David Gilmour was a band member, and had to fit
within the band...

bassguitar, which is a guitar, so i listed him

these technical posing guys (satriani, vai etc) bore the
hell out of me.

i'm much more a fan of peter green or duane eddy.

just because you can play notes which don't even exist
doesn't mean you're any good... ;)
